Why does MCPS appear to have a “fail upward” mentality with incompetent and abusive administrators that in any other job would be fired? This school system has so many fantastic administrators and central offices employees but when the higher ups keep people that should be let go, it really leaves a sour taste in the mouths of parents and school based staff.

I don’t like locking bathrooms, my school doesn’t. Unfortunately I think we need police presence at some schools. At MCPS there are enough classes that almost everyone can be prepared. MCPS should focus on countywide programs. To parents, research your school board ballot, get involved with PTSA, and talk with admin. Also, sorry for not signing replies, you should be able to guess but I’ll start now.

The quality and substance of the classes is an issue. Why don't you fix that?

I’ve had a couple instances in which we’ve had some truly awful HS teachers — vindictive, won’t follow policies, either can’t follow the curriculum or just make stuff up without preparing the kids….in each instance, the admin has been very sympathetic and seemed to big signaling that they are basically powerless. Is there anything parents can do in such circumstances?
I think most teachers are great but there is a weird minority that hate kids and their job and really should do something else.

Us too, but also have a terrible administrator (well a few).

Anyone who believes this is actually an MCPS Admin gets to buy the Washington Monument from me - at a good price!

Fine to allow your high achieving kids to have mental health days as long as grades are good and they are not missing a quiz or paper due day.

Weast had standards, when he was here, although hated, was the last time MCPS was great. It's been a downward slide ever since he left
