What stores are on your blacklist?

Ann Taylor Loft. Several items I bought there developed large tears within one season of wear.

J Crew for their inflexible return policies.

A PP said Compass Coffee - can you share why?
When the Harris Teeter opened in my neighborhood it was run by backwards hicks too simple to understand an educated, fairly sophisticated clientele.

Someone announced over the intercom for security to pay attention to the lady in my aisle. I was the only person in the aisle, lol. I guess the idiots thought I was going to grab a row of items and sweep them into my purse. It was insulting. Who is stupid enough to insult a local when you first arrive on the scene?

I boycotted that Harris Teeter for years. When management was replaced with more competent folks, I began shopping there again.
How do you determine they hired more competent folk if you stopped shopping there? Did a neighbor tell you? I would have been pissed for life and would stay away.

Target. It was like having a best friend who betrayed me. I just can’t…

HOme Depot’s owner is a HUGE Trump donor.

Hypothetically, if your best friend, and I mean best friend, been with you through thick and thin, was a Trump supporter and you never knew it, what would you do?

You might be asking yourself, “I would definitely know.” Some people are very good at hiding things from others.

Right?

Having gone Target-less for a year, I've found it gets easier, but still.

I also don't shop at Walmart or Amazon intentionally (although occasionally it turns out that something I bought online is actually being provided by one of them), Home Depot, or Walgreens.

I love Penzey's

The Melania movie is Amazon, not Netflix.

Irrelevant. Home Depot is very bad at hiding their support for Trump and Republicans and they aren’t OP’s best friend.

Anonymous wrote:Mine are target, home Depot, cvs, amazon. I no longer shop at these places for various reasons and previous problems I've had. Do you have places you avoid at all costs?

I stay away from Home Depot and Walmart for political reasons. I’m really trying to reduce Amazon - we no longer go to Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods at all - but I can’t cut out Amazon entirely. Cutting out CVS wasn’t a political decision, but I did switch from them to my neighborhood independent pharmacy a couple years ago and I am SO much happier.

I do Walmart curbside and it’s pretty
good. Even better if you have a super Walmart (like in Vienna, Va).

I’ll shop anywhere that has a good deal for me and my family. And laughing at the person who said they don’t shop anywhere that is publicly owned. Even if you’re shopping at an independent retailer, you know every product there is sold by a company that is publicly owned you silly person.

The virtue signaling on this thread is amusing.

Same, I just don't care enough and care more about cost, convenience, and time savings. I guess I'll be labeled as part of the problem.

I use an app called “buycatt” and you can scan a bar or search an item based on causes that are important to you. For the most part, I do try to shop small business or businesses compliant with my personal ethics. I’m not perfect but I do make a big effort to support small business in general. Types of places I will never go are like a Starbucks or McDonalds when everywhere I go there are much better alternatives.

Fun fact: Hobby Lobby was one of the leaders in implementing a living wage for its employees. For me, that puts them in a better category that virtually every other big box store.

Nonetheless, I’ve never set foot in one. No clue what they really sell, but fairly confident I don’t need it.

I don’t shop in Walmart or Target (unless on vacation and it’s an emergency).

I also don’t use uber or Airbnbs.

Menomale Pizza | 2711 12th St, Northeast (they recently took a lot of BS for congratulating President Trump)

The Big Board | 421 H St, Northeast

RPM Italian | 650 K St, Northwest

Shelly’s Back Room | 1331 F St, Northwest

New Heights | 2317 Calvert St, Northwest

Blue Duck Tavern makes me so sad...

Any business promoted by Moderately Montgomery and Ester Wells also a no.

NP. Doesn't matter. It's naming and shaming which can be effective. Next time I go into NW I will avoid.
