What stores are on your blacklist?

Mostly target and amazon.

Outlet stores. As noted up the thread, the quality has gone down significantly in the last 10-20 years. They used to sell overstocked or out of season products from the primary stores. Now they mostly sell junk made directly for the outlet stores, which is mostly comprised of cheap synthetic fabrics and lower quality natural fabrics.

Haven't stepped foot in Target since 1/14/25 and won't.

Baja fresh but I think they all closed. Very rude manager expensive and roach infesfed. Another was a Chinese restaurant a hole in the wall place. Had a roach that I watched the staff kill when I was eating. A pizza hut takeout next to a decaying immigrant heavy apartment building that staff were smoking in blunts I think. They were very rude too. If I saw a 🪳 any place I'd ban it. I'd ban two chicfilas but I'm always getting free food just because it's always bad service and the kids that work they look like they dont wash and don't speak English..

+1M amazon there are so many reasons and everyone seems to forget what they did to Arlington real estate. Now they're closing all the fresh stores it couldn't happen to a better company!

Curious what do they do to Arlington real estate because they're building a huge data center near me and I live in the Springfield area.

Amazon has made my life immeasurably better. I love not having to go on a million errands, and I love not paying 15% shipping on everything I buy.

Yeah it's all about you, who cares about small businesses!

DP. I shop with my wallet. If Amazon has what I want cheaper, I buy it from Amazon. I'm not buying, for example, a book for full listed price at a mom & pop bookstore when I can buy the same book for 40% off on Amazon. If a small business wants to survive, get a better business plan. Not my problem!

Books are one of the things I try to always buy locally because we have local bookstores! If I lose a phone charger, though, I'll get a new one from Amazon as it will be delivered quickly and I don't see any difference between Amazon and places like Best Buy, Phone Company store, etc.

Anonymous wrote:There are a lot of places mentioned here that I never went to in the first place (Walmart, Hobby Lobby), but my list...

Target - their DEI garbage made it easier to totally stop going, but I cut back even before that because the quality of what they sold dropped in recent years.

Michael's - recent shadiness with pricing and poor stock had me finding alternatives.

Anthropologie & Urban Outfitters - They've been caught lots of times stealing products from artists, sometimes getting samples under the guise of wanting to do business with them. Also, they destroy merch and throw it away instead of sending it to an outlet or overstock agent.

Whole Foods - before Amazon, we loved the WF by us. The staff was happy to loved to recommend stuff. Most of the staff left within months of the Amazon takeover. We don't go at all anymore.

There's a fabric store I went to twice for thread that seemed to be staffed exclusively by mean, old ladies. The first time, I thought it was a fluke. The second, I realized that's how they operate. If you're not part of their quilting crew, they are vile. Even if you own an expensive sewing machine. F them! I bought thread charts and order my thread online from a nice woman who ships super fast.

I’m curious: what fabric store is it?

Lol 😂🤣😭 insanity!! you would never go to these places, ever. You're just virtually signalling here. SMH.

NP. Doesn't matter. It's naming and shaming which can be effective. Next time I go into NW I will avoid.

it is helpful- I love menomale but now I know & nope. we moved to a smaller city and I shop at the smaller businesses but in general I have just stopped buying a lot of crap. the whole concept of shareholder above all is destroying our world.

also what is wrong with Anthropologie ??

I hope you like paying more taxes to support all those people who are so poorly paid by the likes of Amazon and Walmart that they get government services (paid by you) and don’t pay taxes (so your share is much higher). I hope you like a stunted local economy so your neighbors can’t find jobs and therefore have to rely on government help to pay for their rent and food (which you have to pay for through higher taxes and again have to pay a higher share of the local taxes to educate their children).

We support Walmart. They treat their employees well. We had an employee's Mom who worked the overnight crew at Walmart for many years. Due to a personal situation she could not work for a month and was unable to call out to her job. Walmart took her back after the month.

Amazon does not treat their drivers well. In my area the drivers have to spend their time and gas to drive to the Amazon distribution center each morning to see if they have a route for the day. i.e. You don't have a dedicated job or route.

9:05 again

Another reason I support Walmart is they promote those with only high school education to good pay manager jobs in the range of $200,000 - $250,000. They also promote from within. This is really good pay for someone with a high school education.

I am way more into Walmart these days. I was a ride or die Target shopper (but I'm also from Minnesota and we love our Target!). I no longer live in NOVA, I'm out west, and Target stores out here are...not nice. They're a mess and there just not convienent for me. Walmart is closer, they have better prices and I hate admitting this, but I kinda like their clothes...

Isn't business in business to provide a service people want?

Ted’s Bulletin

Italian Store Arlington both locations.

Ford's Fish Shack.

What did Ted's Bulletin and the Italian Store do to get on the list.

Italian Store owners proudly and loudly posted Trump and that Va crazy person signs (Evers?) at home very proud to let you know who they support. So I am very proud to not give them my money.

Like - at their actual home?
