What age did your DD get a second piercing?

I got my second hole done when I was 10. I went with my mom, who was 40 at the time, and she got her second holes in her lobe as well.

Right? I am genuinely curious - why? Really why does ear jewelry bother people? Why is it different than other jewelry? Because you have to make a hole? So? Do it safely.

I am curious as well. I honestly had no idea some people were so against more than one ear piercing before I started reading dcum

At 15. She just turned 16 and wants a third. I’m okay with it. I told her to wait a few years for cartilage, nose, etc.

I got mine in fifth grade. Smart thing my mother did - "I will let you get a second hole in your ears, and in fact, I will even pay for it, IF you are willing to commit, right now, to never ever getting another piercing anywhere in your body ever."

I thought it over, decided it was worth it, and made the commitment. Got that second hole, and when eyebrow piercings were all the rage in high school, I didn't even bother to ask.

So, a technique to think about. Worked out well for me (and my mother).

That story reminds me of middle schooler with purity rings.

A promise made in 5th grade doesn't hold up long-term.

I have promised my 16 year old DD her second piercings this winter as a birthday/Christmas gift. She is a great kid and this has been on her wish list as many friends have it.

Also riding on this thread further to ask for recommendations on piercing parlors in MoCo. Her first piercing at age 5 was at Claire”s but I wasn’t thrilled with them as I find them too low on the lobe. Hoping to find a piercing professional and any recommendations in MoCo would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Same, that and being against doing anything with your nails that is not just painting them a light pink. The people who post here are not like the people I interact with in real life.

Not as trashy as your inability to write.

Mine is 14 asking and I have said no. Honestly part of it she is always late and spends so much time on her appearance I am not adding anything else to it.
And I want to see if it’s a phase. I have never had a double piercing.

My DD (age 11) is asking for a second piercing on her ears. I feel like she is too young, and feel like it’s fine to make her wait until she is 18. But I see other girls her age have a second piercing, and definitely girls older than she is (but likely under 18).

Curious to hear from other parents how they decided when the right time was for their kids if it was under 18.

I would recommend waiting until 9th grade. I would rather avoid the consequences of unwanted attention by men who may see an 11 year old as 16 with piercings etc.

These are not “trashy” girls - they’re cute, healthy, stylish girls who like jewelry. My own DD has three piercings - she is an athlete. You would not even notice her earrings - they’re small.

This might be the dumbest thing I’ve read so far. I got my second lobe piercing at 10 and I can assure you men didn’t suddenly start bothering me.
