How many donuts for people coming over the day after Thanksgiving?

You’re calling others inflexible while trying to change the menu?

It was a suggestion, but I SAID I WOULD BE FINE WITH A DONUT.

you all are insufferable.

Insufferable indeed. My kids are both athletes. One is committed to play at a D1 school. They both eat donuts. Not before a game but in OP’s situation my 14 yo son would probably have three,
Maybe even four, and my 17 yo daughter would have two. They are both very fit.

Wow. I'm out of touch. 12 sounds like quite enough, and I have a young adult son who eats a lot... but he's not going to eat more than one doughnut. He'd rather have protein. My teen daughter would eat half, as would my husband and I.

Almond mom and family have arrived.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone eat half a donut.

My athlete son and his athlete friends absolutely pig out on junk and are still super fit.

I'm surprised by how many people think as long as their kids are not overweight it means they're healthy and can eat any junk food their hearts desire.

It’s a single meal, relax

It’s literally one morning. I can’t believe all of the people that act like they and their families couldn’t possibly have a donut for one morning and would require other options.

Think of an alternative with less sugar.

2-3 per person.

I don’t know anyone who eats donuts. That’s gross.

Are you trying to poison your own family? Who in their right mind serves this for breakfast.

It's important to me that my kids can eat their fill at meals. I grew up constantly hungry with an almond mom, and have struggled with food ever since so I want something healthier for my kids.

So, if the only thing available at a meal is junk, then I want them to be able to eat their fill of junk. I also try to make sure there are healthy options available, but if I'm a guest and have no control and all that's served is donuts? Then I would expect that they would eat their fill of donuts, especially if they know it will be hours before they eat again.

3 Krispy Kremes is 570 calories, which is less than they eat at breakfast most days as teen athletes.

Yeah, sure.

Op here. Thanks PPs!

I decided donuts and coffee since that’s what they serve at my kids schools for years for grab and go breakfasts. It seems to be a common option. I’ve seen bagels less often for whatever reason, they just aren’t served? Maybe due to cream cheese options needed and knives to cut bagels?

With scrambled eggs, it would seem there would need to be a meat and then some people don’t like sausage, others don’t like bacon, some don’t like crispy bacon, etc… I also considered porridge but Oatmeal vs. Grits vs. Cream of Wheat, is more of a sit down meal and my children don’t all like the same one so I figure their children may be the same and that’s far too much time spent cooking multiple options ahead of a somewhat long drive. Especially if we are running behind which they tend to be.

There is lunch being served at the relatives home everyone is headed to.

OP it sounds like you don’t want to cook which is fine but I would not be thrilled if my family was only served coffee and a donut for breakfast, I don’t really eat donuts and I would feel awful with only that in my system. My car would discreetly be stopping for a breakfast sandwich on the way.

I would really try to at least have some fruit and yogurt available. I don’t understand the thinking of being unable to cook eggs without meat so I am guessing you just don’t want to even cook eggs which is ok but otherwise I think eggs are fast and easy (and cheap) to serve along with donuts and fruit.
