Anyway, it’s going to happen. I think it’s the administration’s goal. There’s really no other reason for the escalating behavior by the ICE “agents.” MAGAs will pretend to be suprised and outraged, normal people saw it coming miles away.

As a lawyer who practices criminal law and the wife of a LEO, I agree that the way these arrests are happening is unnecessarily dangerous for the agents and officers involved.

I also think that internet "activists" have done everyone a disservice by encouraging people with no understanding of law enforcement to inject themselves into arrests and demand to see a judicial warrant. By all means, educate people about what officers can and can't do without a warrant signed by a judge, but these confrontations are ineffective and dangerous.

Who are they obligated to show a judicial warrant to then? No one? They can just take you and no one knows where you are or who took you or why but the "judicial system" will handle it meanwhile you have kids, a job, animals to take care of, etc and until it "works out" you are jailed and removed from the state you live in (in most cases), not allowed phone calls or medical care/access, and likely treated poorly. You dont think that elected officials should be concerned with the welfare of their constituents?

Do you acknowledge that ICE is not just taking "illegal" people? They are also removing those with varying levels of immigrant status here lawfully. That immigration law, from my understanding, means that until you are processed after claiming asylum you are here lawfully and can continue to be here until your asylum case is denied. And even if the case is denied, they can ask for withholding of removal.

Let's assume you're right that the person was undocumented. In Illinois, since it has sanctuary jurisdictions, elected lawmakers serve all residents.

If you don't want the USA to have sanctuary jurisdictions, write to your federal lawmaker that you think there should be legislation forbidding them.
