Why is America such a falling empire, and what the hell are its political divisions?

The democrat party installed a cadaver as president and then ran the US through unelected savage communists like Anita Dunn, Ron Klain and Lisa Monaco.

That's why.

Yes I agree the Democrats have screwed up but now that we have established that fact what are you going to do about TRUMP?!

I like Trump's policies and his common sense.

What do you want me to do?

Place honor and integrity above power and money and uphold traditional American values like the rule of law and civic duty.

We have Americans taking Ubers to the ER instead od an ambulance because it is cheaper and they don't want to be saddled with debt. Meanwhile, in many parts of the world, having kid is virtually free at the hospital, an ambulance ride costs $20, and people go to the doctor on average 10 times a year for less than $100.

Public infrastructure in US is like 60 years behind at this point. Japan has had high speed rail that functions on time and has had zero fatalities in basically its entire existence. We went to Taiwan and took an hour long train ride. Total cost: $3 for TWO PEOPLE. Shenzen China? Makes US look like a third world bbehind by decades. So many roads and other areas of the country look like the 2nd world. I mean just drive around parts of Baltimore to vast swaths of the country in smaller towns. Everything is so run down and dilapidated. Look at how many water crises the US has from Jackson, MS to Flint, MI. The US is garbage for infrastructure.

Then there is the crime and violence. Non stop shootings and murder. So much out of control drug use from presciption opioids, to weed, to booze, to shoots. Garbage education. Crippling debt laden higher education. Far less healthier people who are fatter than most in the world.

But thank god the US dumps trillions of dollars on state of the art killing machines to bomb goat herders for 25 years in Afghanistan.

Travel the world more. Developed countries have blown thr US out of the water for the last 30 years. The US stopped developing in like the late 1960s and is more like a 2nd world country. We are honestly closer to countries like Brazil and Honduras than we are to advanced first world countries. The only thing that keeps us here are elderly parents....which of course in the good old USA are impossible to care for because there is zero affordable long term care here due to the craptastic healthcare system.

That’s because our government is invested overseas not on internal domestic affairs. Our leaders care more about Ukraine than giving money to Americans. Social security is called an entitlement program. That’s what Americans worked and earned by paying taxes. That’s not an entitlement. It’s a refund.

This is how the public discourse is wired: international aid is more paramount to public/domestic investment

Entitlement is the proper word it’s just that right wing propaganda has redefined common language to become a weapon against the people. You are entitled to that money since you paid into the system. That’s not a negative thing. Fighting back against territorial expansion by a hostile russian dictator is in our national best interest because once Putin gets into NATO countries then we will be in a far more costly engagement. Please educate yourself on the basic contours of these issues.

Republicans are hate filled people.

Americans are hate filled people.

My MIL doesn’t even know a single Republican personally, but she speaks of them as the evil, ignorant monsters. She says she’ll never stoop low enough to speak to one.

Hate is everywhere and people have lost the ability to respect others with differing beliefs. They use hyperbole and stereotypes, sticking to the image of the monsters they’ve created.

But republicans voted for Trump, which certainly makes them evil, ignorant monsters. This isn’t a situation with two sides. I’d be happy to see republicans fighting against Trump, I just don’t see any. Feel free to post it.

You just proved my point.

Without talking to anybody, you simply assigned labels: evil, ignorant, monster.

That’s just as hateful. Perhaps you don’t see it, but those of us who moderately sit in the middle see this behavior from progressives and Trumpers.

When you resort to name calling, you’re part of the problem whether you accept it or not.

You Kevin McCarthy people who sit in the middle are the problem. If you were truly in the middle you wouldn’t have cast away your votes. Just because two parties vie for your vote doesn’t make you as special as you claim. Like Niki had a chance. Until you fund and do the work to create a relevant 3rd party, you’re just an…丨ʹɱ 𝑎Π 丨ΠɗҼᵱҼΠɗҼΠ七。

But they sure like government funneled money from blue states. It’s only interference when their guns and bibles are threatened.

Blue states have never threatened their guns and bibles.

It’s their imagined issue. That’s all they’ve got, except our money.

Media helped further the division.

In many cases, media sources exist for the sole purpose of stoking division and hatred for the other "side". When the sheep are sharply divided, blind loyalty is more common and people are more likely to donate to the "cause". 95% of Americans have been duped by this agenda on some level.

The news channels are so different and polarization is so encouraged that people can’t even agree on what reality is. MSNBC and Fox are selling two different versions of America, and those who consume it and buy in are essentially living in two different versions of America mentally.

Exactly. Never before have such a high percentage of Americans been encapsulated in two political bubbles with half-truth narratives determining which bubble you fit into. The powerful folks controlling our two party political system have their sheep right where they want them and they aren't letting go.

States are already banding together to form their own coalitions to preserve rights and protect citizens. Maybe it’s best that Trump is doing his best to destroy the federal government. Perhaps it’s role is better as a sort of series of overarching rules and regulations and recommendations.

It would be pretty ironic if his complete failure as a president somehow benefited the blue states the most.

Big wins. A Balkanized America makes us like.... Balkans ... while China and India take over the world.

Even Europe full of ethnostates sees that they need to unite to survive.

McCarthy for all his problems, being a Republican, was still the leader that achieved a compromise with Democrats.

True. When corporations became people under Citizens United, and campaign finance died, our Democracy was basically doomed.

Add in a culture which is more and more anti-education and this is where you end up.

The fact that the divide between the richest the vast majority of Americans who have little generational wealth grows wider each year due to Ronald Reagan's tax reforms, and you end up with the toxic morass of American political life today.

Let's be clear that every single one of these trends was advanced and primarily championed by Republicans.

When people say that both sides contributed to this equally that is a bald-faced lie.

Notice how the MAGA propagandist ignores that Republicans are fighting to kill social security while the Democrats try to save it, incoherently bringing up a completely unrelated international wars.

I think it's "MAGA" Russian -- pushing the lie that Ukraine defending against Russia is the risk to Social Security, not decades of Republic attempts to destroy it.

The Citizens United ruling was a GOP initiative. Since then, a very small percentage of our GOP and Dem Congress members have spoken out against the toxic influence of money in politics while the rest have performed their puppet acts willingly. It's difficult to see a path out of dysfunction and toxicity for the GOP and Dem Parties at this point. When one party nominates someone as awful as Trump three consecutive times and the other party is so weak and dysfunctional that the lose to Trump in 2 of 3 general elections, you have all the proof you need of two parties that are no longer viable.
