Why is America such a falling empire, and what the hell are its political divisions?

In the cities people need to live cooperatively and they understand ways that government structures can help them.
Over time people have moved to areas that favor their lifestyle and share their beliefs, so the country has become more polarized.

Ah, yes, the vaunted rural self-reliance of farm subsidies adding on average $17.6 BILLION EACH YEAR to farm incomes, adjusted for inflation. The FEMA bailouts from tornado disasters. The well-established flow of blue states bailing out the debts of red states.

Oh yeah, sure.

A third of the adult population don’t even vote. The apathy will also have to come to a stop.

I realize this is a difficult concept for people living in political bubbles to understand but what has to come to a stop is the continuing support everyday non-wealthy Americans are giving to two failed entities that no longer prioritize the interests of the large majority. Refusing to vote for something that is in direct conflict with one's own interests is not apathy. That's called intelligence.

It's absolutely apathy, with a dash of shortsightedness, a hint of ignorance, and a breathtaking lack of critical thinking skills.

One party consistently votes to cut spending on the social safety net, cut spending on health care, give tax breaks to rich Americans, and balloon the budget deficit.

The other party consistently votes to expand the social safety net, support unions, invest in domestic manufacturing, and wants to raise taxes on rich Americans.

It is apathy, shortsightedness, ignorance, and a lack of critical thinking skills that drives an apathetic voter to decide both parties are the same and neither represent your interests. Let's take the kid gloves off and call a spade a spade here.

Take you MAGA crap and shove it. It's safe to say the GOP is even more dysfunctional than the Dem Party considering they nominated Trump three consecutive times! Think. Read. Get the big picture.

Reread what I wrote. Slowly. Then do it again.

If you're trying to convince people that it is somehow "okay" to continue supporting our two major political parties considering what they've given us since 2016, you're certifiably insane and no one with an IQ over 85 is listening to your childish rhetoric.

An accusation of childish rhetoric from the poster who thinks Republicans and Democrats offer working class folks the same thing and wants to tear it all down. Classic!

Buddy, you're right that there's one of us here with a room temperature IQ, but it ain't me.

The GOP and Dem parties offering working class folks something... lol, that's the dumbest thing I've heard in 7 weeks. The only things our two awful major political parties have to offer anyone is kickbacks to their wealthy donors in the form of political influence. If you don't understand this by 2025, you should stop embarrassing yourself on political message boards.

Trump threatens our democracy, has alienated the United States from its allies, destroys our academic institutions, and has ensured that we will no longer lead the world in medical and scientific advances. Biden, on the other hand, led us out of the pandemic and invested in infrastructure, promoted our economy and encouraged scientific research through the CHIPS Act, and strengthened our international alliances.

There are actually lots of people that equate them but I think it is irrelevant. What is equivalent are the party elites themselves. I see little difference in parties at this point.

Then you’re blind. One party a5 least wants to preserve our social safety net, the other party is destroying it.

Willful ignorance.

Exactly. Nice to hear from a high IQ person who can step away from the political bubbles long enough to see the big political picture for what it is.

There is no daylight between the wealthy elites controlling our two awful major political parties. Trump is the worst of the worst but he'll be dead soon and then we'll still be stuck with two toxic and dysfunctional political parties.

In one of the Psalms it says that when a nation forgets God it perishes. Greed is out new God. The cabal of American billionaires will never have enough.

People should be reading about Lorenzo il Magnifico.
