Why is America such a falling empire, and what the hell are its political divisions?

Republicans are hate filled people.

Our leadership just isn't efficient enough. It's the age old too many Chiefs not enough Indians problem. Well, we aren't producing enough to sustain the wants of our consumer class. Inefficiencies abound. For example. Why can't people use Metro? Because businesses don't build near Metros. Why don't businesses build near Metro's, they don't want to pay for high priced properties or the taxes on the properties, so now they have to pay labor transportation costs. Our leadership doesn't have enough affordable labor, so they import labor, but the labor they import is poorly trained and doesn't communicate well, so they have to have a bunch of project managers. Net effect, depressed wages for everyone and inferior services.

In the cities people need to live cooperatively and they understand ways that government structures can help them.
Over time people have moved to areas that favor their lifestyle and share their beliefs, so the country has become more polarized.

Media helped further the division.

Yes, and then social media amplified it to a level few could have imagined.

That’s just mythology. I have close family in rural areas and every fifth person you meet down there is on disability and getting by on food banks etc. All of their farm equipment is manufactured overseas in high tech factories that rely on immigration and free trade and global supply chains. Even some guy living in Alaska needs to buy a snow machine or a generator or food supplies. This nonsense about being individualists that don’t need government is just the stupidest most ignorant brainwashing in the world today second only to the Taliban in Afghanistan who they would love to be like.

What they mean is they don't need your government, because your government is like the Taliban and we don't need the Taliban.

It’s similar to how Brexit voters were old or from villages and rural locations. They didn’t like all the immigrants. America is the same.

Yep. That’s how bad it’s getting. We are heading toward doom and the scariest part is MAGA is just cheering it on.

Like literally every empire that collapsed in history, the underlying issue is state debt.

Also, you can’t export your manufacturing base entirely and expect to remain dominant.

In one of the Psalms it says that when a nation forgets God it perishes. Greed is out new God. The cabal of American billionaires will never have enough.

That is the opposite of America's problem. The last thing it needs is more supernatural. America has forgotten reality. They cant use their frontal lobe well. Descending into animals.

What does the media care about? What do the political elites argue over? What is the dominant public discourse?

You will already have your answer.

Republicans are hate filled people.

Americans are hate filled people.

My MIL doesn’t even know a single Republican personally, but she speaks of them as the evil, ignorant monsters. She says she’ll never stoop low enough to speak to one.

Hate is everywhere and people have lost the ability to respect others with differing beliefs. They use hyperbole and stereotypes, sticking to the image of the monsters they’ve created.

But republicans voted for Trump, which certainly makes them evil, ignorant monsters. This isn’t a situation with two sides. I’d be happy to see republicans fighting against Trump, I just don’t see any. Feel free to post it.

The wealthy have always been able to do that. They just have been more successful in hiding that because they had control over the airwaves and press.

Now any one can meme their opinion into the mass consciousness.

I will say the anti American and anti white bias coming from liberals are truly expediting the descent into chaos.

You just proved my point.

Without talking to anybody, you simply assigned labels: evil, ignorant, monster.

That’s just as hateful. Perhaps you don’t see it, but those of us who moderately sit in the middle see this behavior from progressives and Trumpers.

When you resort to name calling, you’re part of the problem whether you accept it or not.
