Why is America such a falling empire, and what the hell are its political divisions?

Wrong. Stop equating Dems and Republicans. Are Dems perfect? No. But, they're nothing like Republicans. The GOP would be burning down the Capitol if Biden had tried any of this.

Also >> Debt CAUSED BY GOP GREED will cause the US empire to fall.

Your blind cult-like devotion to the Democrats is noted.

The irony of you and your ilk is that you are a lot more like MAGA than unlike them. You, like them, are cultists.

Yeah, no. I never walked around with a Biden flag, nor wore a Biden clothes from head-to-toe. I didn't even like Biden, but I voted for him because I like Dem policies better than the Republicans. You sound enraged, using terms like "ilk." My point stands.

Since when do you think your clothing means you aren’t in a cult? I would tell you to wake up, except you can’t, because your self-identity is rooted in your political identity, and you can’t take the ego hit that looking neutrally would require.

And yes, I am enraged by people like you (and your MAGA compatriots), who are directly causing the decline of this country. Your petulance and partisan cultishness is going to destroy not just this country, but values like free speech globally. Do you think that a world under an ascendant China will cherish free expression?

The petulance and hyper-partisan cultishness of those pea-brain idiots won't destroy the country because us smart people who see the political truths for what they are won't let them.

Sadly, there are far more pea-brained idiots than smart people in this country. Trump relied on the modal voter's goldfish-like memory to dupe them into believing he gave a sh!t about the price of eggs.

Can't figure out why the admin keeps locking threads on DeCarlos Brown. Is it inconveniently displaying the policy outcomes of progressives?

No it is not. It is displaying the failure of this entire nation to deal effectively with mental health issues. As if the GOP actually cared about mental health issues or had any real answers. They trot it out to defend their guns after mass shootings and yet, have they ever actually done anything effective to address mental health? Absolutely not. No, they like to cut funding for research and intervention.

And now they trot it out to justify militarizing the country, especially blue cities and to distract from the Epstein files.

Anything the GOP puts out today is nothing but an endless stream of lies and propaganda to take this country further into authoritarianism.

Now STFU.

Entire nation? No. Appearance before moronic judges leading to devastating outcomes needs to be recognized and the judges need to be disbarred. Permanently.

They're in it for an ideology, not justice and to protect the people. There is no place for your f-d up ideology. We're a nation of laws, not of men and your only answer it to game the justice system constantly.

Republicans are hate filled people.

Americans are hate filled people.

My MIL doesn’t even know a single Republican personally, but she speaks of them as the evil, ignorant monsters. She says she’ll never stoop low enough to speak to one.

Hate is everywhere and people have lost the ability to respect others with differing beliefs. They use hyperbole and stereotypes, sticking to the image of the monsters they’ve created.

But republicans voted for Trump, which certainly makes them evil, ignorant monsters. This isn’t a situation with two sides. I’d be happy to see republicans fighting against Trump, I just don’t see any. Feel free to post it.

Such an infantile take. This is the reason why the division grows. Emotionally and intellectually immature adults that are completely unaware of their ignorance. In fact they believe themselves to be the enlightened ones, when in fact they are what weighs a society down.

I would be happy to listen to concerns of a MAGA voter--if they were rooted in the real world. Say they are in an economically depressed area and they are worried about jobs, prices, etc. I would be interested in those concerns. I would be interested in real-world, feasible suggestions for addressing those concerns. There are many problems to tackle and the best way to do it would be by thoughtful discussion and compromise.

But what am I supposed to do when they say hateful things to blame immigrants for ALL of their woes, that ALL immigrants are horrific criminals, that vaccines cause autism and therefore we should just get rid of all of them, that the 2020 election was stolen and the J6-ers are patriots, complete denial of any climate change or its effects, and on and on with the obvious lies and conspiracy theories they accept and parrot. Am I expected to nod along? The endless hypocrisy where they accuse Democrats of doing things that THIS ADMINISTRATION is doing in plain sight? The acceptance of outright corruption by this administration, not to mention the incompetence? The cheering of the demonization and dismantling of the media, education, science, etc. The demonization of anyone with an education and critical thinking skills? The cheering of dismantling of our democratic institutions, due process, deploying the military to cities when there is no actual emergency, etc.?

Exactly how much are we "mature" adults supposed to swallow?

When people have hateful views, spread lies, and say repugnant things about you, a person will have a dim view of those people. This is a completely mature response based on the behavior in front of them.

Seriously, what in your infinitely emotionally and intellectually mature wisdom are you suggesting is going to bridge this gap when the GOP/MAGA side has been playing unfair, outright lying, and painting Democrats/liberals as the ENEMY since the time of Newt? The Democrats did not destroy bipartisanship, call the other side the enemy, and paint compromise as weak; the GOP did. Until they stop and come to the table in good faith, nothing will change.

My MIL uses all of these talking points. She says she can’t speak to Republicans because they hate immigrants, hate LGBTQ+, hate science, etc. The problem is she doesn’t actually know any Republicans and probably hasn’t talked to one in a decade. She lives in a very small, very progressive bubble.

If she were to actually talk to someone, she would find out that they don’t actually believe these things. She’s constructed a view of people she doesn’t know, and she uses it to justify her anger toward them.

If all you have is your MIL to make your argument, your n of one is not persuasive. The rest of us know real people who think these things. They are not "talking points". They are things that GOP leaders say (repeatedly), GOP mouthpiece RWNJ "news" outlets parrot and then MAGA/GOP supporters parrot and purport to believe. Judging people for believing such drivel or being purposefully obtuse about it (because they want it to be true - even more damning) is justified. We are judged based on our actions and beliefs. If your actions are cruel and your beliefs are based on easily discernible lies, why on earth should I or anyone else with critical thinking skills and a conscience be expected to respect them. Spare me.

Yes. Your point?

That you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to the economy and pricing. Think with your head, not your heart.

Oh yeah. Alejandro Mayorkas and his cabinet level department (HHS), AOC, "The Squad", the DNC, and numerous democrats in multiple states had had nothing to do with it.

The DOJ pushing back against Texas in court over supremacy to enforce the law was just Joe Biden.

Just how insane do you have to be to believe the crap you post.

I haven't let in a single illegal immigrant. Not one. I would like to see common sense, practical approaches to immigration reform. There should be a process for every person. The Trump admin is trampling human rights in the name of immigration control, which is unsupportable to anyone with any human decency.

You sound like a complete nutjob, spouting more RWNJ lies. 9/11 was during a GOP administration. Tons of immigrants have come to this nation over decades, let in my administrations from both sides. The vast majority of them, THE VAST MAJORITY OF THEM, are not criminals and have contributed immeasurably to our society. The vast majority of Americans would support reform of immigration for better processes and accounting.

+1000000

Glad to hear from someone who sees the big picture with our failing political system. Until the influence of money in politics is drastically reduced, voting for any Republican or Dem politician on the Federal level is a vote that is in direct conflict with the interests of any and every American except, of course, for the ultra wealthy mega-donors

I disagree. The majority of Americans aren't that stupid. Most people who still identify as Republicans and Democrats know by now that there is no path going forward for our two major parties to remain viable considering their current levels of dysfunction. They just don't want to admit it. For those people and the people who aren't smart enough to see this big picture with our toxic political landscape, it will take direct hardships impacting their lives before they'll be willing to demand reform to our political system.

I hear what you're saying, but no. They really are that stupid. They saw Trump attempt to overturn a free and fair election, rationalized their vote by convincing themselves it was about immigration and inflation, and touched the hot stove again anyway.

I agree that it will take direct hardships impacting their lives before things change. Unfortunately, that means they'll get what they voted for, and perhaps more unfortunately, most will handwave it away as either fake news or the machinations of evil democrats and stupid libs.

Immigration reform is a continuing failure of Congress but our past presidents very much so did take a practical and reasonable approach to addressing Immigration and security at our southern border. It's Trump and Biden and Trump and Biden alone who made this issue so much worse than it already was.
