Retirement finances in an age-gap relationship or marriage

In addition to financial incentives I would wanting to have/provide stability for children or religious reasons. It doesn’t sound like any of these factors are the case for Op though so agree in her case marriage seems a pretty bad decision.

OP's DH is divorced, so I'm not certain how much stability that first marriage provided. Plus what younger woman marries an old man, or older man, and a divorced with kids one at that, who doesn't have a lot, I mean a lot of money, like F/U money, money. But not only that you picked one, an older wrinkly one, or soon to be, who looks at you with the sad little boy eyes, Take care of me. Oh no! Why? Just why?

Sorry maybe I'm just too far past that stage of my life, and no longer prone to sentimentality, but I just don't see the what was/is in it for you.
