+ The idiots here need to learn that the Wash Post is not neutral in this battle. You must read other sources. Crime is WAY down in the last two weeks in D.C. (Google it). My son lives on the hill and reports a wonderful "vibe shift" from recent years because students and residents feel free to walk around, dine, and bar hop in areas on Capitol Hill. He even saw a mother with a baby in a stroller out at 10 PM on H Street, enjoying the warm evening. Instacart and other delivery services have told me to my face and to him that they are "having a great day" because, for a change, they won't be robbed. The restaurateurs I know report a resurgence in DC dining, which is NOT what the WaPO (which is anti-Trump) wants to report.

Which restauranteurs?

None because the PPs entire post is made up. Restaurant reservations are down 31%: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/18/trump-washington-dc-national-guard-restaurants

PP is a troll posting made up right wing talking points. It's incredibly obvious because the trolls are all NPCs who can't make up anything original, they can only parrot talking points given to them because half of them are actual bots and the other half are foreign paid trolls who don't speak English as a first language.

As if walking around, bar hopping, and walking your baby in a stroller ever stopped on Capitol Hill. So sick of the liars who clearly don't live anywhere near here.

I think there more to the Guard being in DC. I know we have been getting threats from IRAN saying they want to blowup DC. Maybe that's why the guard is here.

Maybe so to handle the chaos.

More troops are coming in from Georgia.

Rate of holdups seemed higher than before the stepped-up federal patrols.
A rash of reported robberies occurred in the District from Friday into Saturday despite the federal law enforcement surge credited with making the city generally safer.
Seven holdups were reported within a period of less than 12 hours from midafternoon Friday through early Saturday. Weapons were displayed in several, but no injuries were reported. It was not clear what was taken.

The rate of the crimes seemed several times higher than before President Donald Trump set in motion the anti-crime effort in which additional federal officers as well as National Guard troops are reinforcing D.C. police. The surge has been credited with reducing crime and the homicide rate has dropped sharply

lol guess hiding out in the white rich neighborhoods really isn’t “fighting”?

I thought crime wasn't a problem in DC. Totally safe for tourists and visitors...

Under Trump it has spiked.

Who knows what the truth is any more. We were taught not to report crimes. I can’t keep up. My general take now is that crime is higher than reported when Ds in charge, and magnified when Rs are in charge to justify detaining/arresting holding people for looking at someone the wrong way.
