Really Hard to say Grinnell the better school. Grinnell feels like a school with lots of unhappy kids. Read the newspaper - s and b. Lots of complaining and articles about widespread mental health issues.

How many Grinnell graduates do you actually know? Let’s start there.

Hundreds. Myself. My wife. My sister. My friends from college. My former classmates. That enough.

No you don’t. You would have led with that instead of referring to the S&B. You’re full of shit. Nice try though.

So odd that you despise a school you have no connection to or experience with.

Next time, try harder to troll. A real Grinnellian would be smart enough to do better.

Thanks. That’s worrying but useful to know.

Holy moly. You have to be the most arrogant person on the face of the earth. Yes - I went to Grinnell. F*ck you.

We live in the midwest. DD wants to be within a 5 hour drive. That basically gets us Rhodes, Wash U, Grinnell, U Wisconsin. She potentially has the chops for Wash U but we do not want to full pay there. We can't get to Minneapolis or Chicago in 5 hours. I will have her look beyond that radius, but I really hope Grinnell is a good fit. She prefers a smaller more intimate school, does not want the rah rah/ Greek life of a state school, but she is pretty moderate politically and definitely not a navel gazer. For us, the location (in terms of getting there - we haven't visited) is a plus. I wonder if there are other normal smart midwestern kids who just don't want to go to a coast or city.

I really struggled with whether I’d encourage my kids to go to Grinnell. In the end I decided not to push it. It’s a great school. No doubt. But there is zero viewpoint diversity. The alumni Facebook group - everyday class notes- is also filled with people melting down over Trump. People need to live in the real world. Grinnell is an Uber liberal bubble.

Thanks. That’s worrying but useful to know.

Yes. It will be fine for her. It’s super liberal. But it will still be fine. She will find her people.

People in the Midwest have been choosing Grinnell over WashU because of the money Grinnell gives since the beginning of time. Both will set you up equally well.

Rhodes is in Memphis. Not 3 hours from Midwest. You in Missouri?

We’re in the DMV. I have a Grinnell grad. I know many other Grinnell grads living and working in the area. None has two head. All fall well within the range of normal. Yes, they’re liberal but not lunatics. They’re smart and good people. Many were athletes. We’re talking truly mainstream people.

Stereotypes are long to die.

Only about 40 percent of students at Grinnell fit this describe. Other 60 percent have two heads.

That’s more reassuring to me (not PP). 40% is still a lot of kids.
