| Having come up with not much helpful from ChatGPT in terms of a typical range, trying to crowd source a bit here...what levels of merit aid have folks gotten from Grinnell? RD round. |
| For starters you gotta get in. The RD admit rate is about 5 percent. |
really? holy heck. - OP |
It might not be that low but it’s in the single digits. More than half the class is admitted ED and there are around 9000 applications for the remaining 150 or 200 seats. Obviously they accept way more than that because the RD yield rate is low — but it’s a VERY hard RD admit. By the way, if you apply ED and get in you’re guaranteed a minimum of $20k in merit aid . . . |
|
The early decision acceptance rate for ED1 and ED2 is over 40 percent. They also heavily weight demonstrated interest. And anyone who applies ED and gets in is guaranteed a $20k per year scholarship.
Grinnell, Kenyon, Denison, Macalester. These are the highest ranked LACs where a good student can get $20-25k in merit aid. All are excellent schools. |
Yes, they’re all excellent but Grinnell is clearly the best of the bunch |
I did see the $20K automatic on their website. Maybe i'll change the question then - can anyone share ANY merit awards from Grinnell (even if ED) beyond the auto $20K? - OP |
My kid got half tuition many years ago. I forget the amount. |
Not really. I could list many things better about Kenyon, Denison, or Macalester. Grinnell really struggles to attract talent. |
| Did you try looking at the Grinnell website? They list the merit scholarships including the full tuition one. |
Lol right. That’s why they have more applicants than any of the others, a much lower acceptance rate, higher stats, and a much higher ranking |
| Mine got 36k per year. Starting in a week. He didn’t apply ED however he did send in his application before December 1st in order to be considered for merit aid. Definitely read the fine print on when you need to apply. |
What were his stats and what was the best school he was admitted to and turned down? |
A lot of words to explain that they take a bunch of their class ed |
So ridiculous. Grinnell is a step above those schools. |
