He actually wrote that he understood how it felt to need a payday loan and these other "elites" were trying to make it harder to get one. The idea is, the "elites" -- i.e.,the liberals (Vance is also an elite at this point, having benefitted from poor white boy DEI) were trying to protect people in need of payday loans from being taken advantage of with high interest rates. Unbelievable that he didn't even get the point of the bill.

You obviously didn’t get the point of his comment. If payday loans are capped, the highest risk individuals will just be turned down and not have access to them. No. It means if you're desperate for a loan so you don't get evicted from your motel room, you won't be charged 40% interest when someone with better access to cash would only get charged the going rate.

I am aware of what the point was. However, it was a poorly thought out bill that would have had unintended consequences you don’t want to bother your little head worrying about. Well, if they’ve already made 240 arrests and recovered 35 guns in only the safe, rich areas, then the crime situation may be even worse than we thought.

They are combining ICE arrests with regular arrests. They are not getting any more arrests than a regular day for MPD. ICE arrests do not help crime in DC, our crime is committed by US citizens. Furthermore, one of the biggest issues with crime in DC in recent years is the no papering and prosecution rates which is within their control to fix. Nothing matters if they do not dramatically increase staffing rates to help prosecute the cases (plus well, actually prosecute them rather than completely drop the case the day after arrest).
