So now we're up to five red states sending national guard to "save" DC by standing around on street corners. More have agreed to come before the first wave has even gotten to their stations. No one actually paying attention can believe that "crime" in DC is the real purpose of this theater.
The idea of sending red-state troops to surround the President and White House as the tariff hits, the Epstein files hover at the edge of the scene, Israel and Russia stoke controversy, etc etc -- it is downright ominous. It's multiples worse than when Trump urged his hyped-up J6ers on to the Capitol. It's more like when the Iraqi troops massed outside Kuwait. Stephen Miller, Russell Vought, and Peter Thiel are sitting in some back room, scheming how to dope Trump up enough to keep him vaguely lifelike in public and gleefully plotting about how great it will be when *all* the power is theirs and they can finally run the country according to their preferences and only theirs. This is serious militarization on a domestic front and our pathetic Congresspeople need to show up and do something. At least the Dem. Govs association is speaking out, but it appears that mid-August stealth-mode actions are getting way under-recognized for what they are. |
