What's wrong with going to college and getting a good education and starting your own business and employing people in the economy instead of sucking off the government teat for your job? Not everyone wants to go around dressed like a masked thug and harassing soccer moms and incarcerating them in a swamp in Florida to earn money. Just because you would enjoy that doesn't mean it's for most people. |

I think the best way to resolve any question around admissions/ hiring is to have metrics if possible. For colleges, have the applicants submit grades, coursework and test scores.
People on the left: Are you ok with this? |
| ^^ Companies can even do that with new hires - something like a basic competency exam, like the ACT/ SAT. |
And no bump for sports. Teams will be whatever a college or university can scrape together. People on the right: Are you OK with this? |
Oh goody another opportunity for the rich to prep the hell out of their kids and out compete anyone without those kind of resources. |

Wow. Way to insult the entire federal workforce. You are a real nut-job. |
DP. Your comment is a bit ironic isn’t it, since Trump has made federal workers a villain. You can’t just exclude ICE. |
There will always be that, but test prep is available online. Most don't have access to the wealth to prep the hell out of anybody but most do have online access. |
No bump for sports or legacy. |
People that can be trained to do well on standardized tests could be useful hires for some jobs. There may be some jobs that require other skills. |
So basically what you both want is what the rest of the world already does in its college admissions processes. The US is the exception. |
I’m ok with test scores being required as long as you have to submit all test scores (showing how many times you took it) and also indicate what testing prep services you used. I’m ok with test scores being considered, but would also not want colleges to be required to admit only the top test scorers. There are many other skills and qualities they might want reflected in their student bodies that aren’t measured on the SAT. |
The rest of the world has cheap public higher education for the majority of their students. |
The majority of the students that pursue higher education. There are many countries where that is just not available to most people. |
