Are we ready to admit that Woke & DEI and woke wasn’t what was holding you back from success?

I don't know, OP, I'm mostly just happy that I don't have to look at ads with ugly people, spend every day of pride month being re-educated, or explain why I won't announce my pronouns at the start of a meeting.

Stock market is doing awesome. Everything is great. No complaints.

Everyone is assigned a number and submits the above. Minimum acceptable grades and scores are posted on the college website prior to application submission dates. No legacy, no sports bumps.

At least if you're accepted, no one will think you slept your way in there.

Most of the rest of the world admits students to public universities based solely on HS leaving exams or university entrance exams and, in some cases, HS coursework. So we are unusual in requiring extra stuff like extracurriculars, letters of recommendation, and essays. And public universities in other countries tend not to admit "holistically" or worry about race/ethnicity, gender, socio-economic background, geographic origin or anything beyond scores.

But that's not how the US has been doing it, so the entire college admission model would have to change here.

I want real life examples, not hypotheticals like bathrooms in some other county or school system that has nothing to do with you. Real examples of how you (or your white DH) have gotten ahead in your career, your kid has excelled in sports, etc. now that others can be decremented against again.

This thread has been done multiple times. Do a search. In the meantime, what do you think you're achieving here?

What do you think? Looking for real examples of how people’s lives have improved now that DEI and Woke are out of their way. It’s a simple question. Yet no one can answer.

Well for one thing, it helped take power from the DNC. So that's a win-win right there.

Military bases are being renamed back to what they were before. Your whole outlook of grievance politics based on 200 year old colonialism has been undermined.

The trans nonsense in the military has been KO'd. Reflecting upon it, democrats chose poorly and it's coming back to haunt them. Bigly.

It also has you opening threads about it. So, I guess you should tell us how it has disturbed you, your ideology and your forward progress on artificial grievances for 0.1% of the population that lead to monetary concessions.

Your turn.

The question was concrete examples of how your own life have improved. You haven’t listed any.

Well, if your only goal is to grab power, that is a problem. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I’m not really worried about the DEI piece myself. I’m worried about the destruction of science and education. That will eventually hit the stock market HARD.

For the brief year or two when DEI was everything, if you were white or Asian or Hispanic, especially a male, it seemed like every job or promotion in Fortune 500 companies or government was fixated on black folks, who were often unqualified or mediocre. So that led to some resentment. Because it wasn't about talent, but only race. Which I get from the black perspective. It's like, duh, welcome to the last 450 years. But it is 2025, and the sense is merit is a better way to do things than race-based hiring preferences.

And people go primal when it comes to livelihoods and their ability to feed their families. So I'm not surprised there was a huge shift among white, asian, and Hispanic men toward Republicans in the last election. Democrats aren't their party. Race-based hiring was garbage in 1825,1925, and 2025. So people will gravitate to organizations and companies that value talent, regardless of racial or ethnic background. And there are tons of great black professionals. But when people get prioritized for things they can't do anything about - race, gender, ethnicity - there's going to be a reaction among the unchosen people.

Since when are Hispanics not considered minorities alongside black people? This post is a strange attempt at fitting in with a group that Hispanics have never been part of.

How to tell us you are male without telling us you are male.

No one has been able to list a single thing that the elimination of DEI and woke has benefited them personally. Not talking about owning the libs or feeling smug about the country in general. Have you been promoted at work now that the pesky females and black folk are out of the way? Has your child decided they are in fact not gay now that they aren’t being “programmed” at school? Has your business thrived more now that there are no migrants? I want real examples.

That’s nice. I’m looking forward to bigots like you being ostracized by your kids and dying alone in a nursing home.

Was it mommy or daddy who were super critical of you when you were a kid?

Still waiting for a real life example of how your life has improved. Not just “owning the libs” or not having to look at brown people or gay people. What specific benefit have you seen in your life? Have you been hired at a job that was taken by migrants? Has your business bottom line improved now that you can turn away brown people or gay people? Has your child become captain of their soccer team now that the position has been vacated by a brown person? Real examples please.

Extremely hateful thing to say to someone just because I don't enjoy your Maoist indoctrination program.

DP. Pretty sure you have no clue what you're talking about to be calling it "Maoist indoctrination." Words have meanings. Things like "Maoist indoctrination" aren't just generic swear words to use against people you don't like. Ultimately your use of words just makes you sound like a dumb kid trying to bully another kid on the playground.

That's a sweeping assumption that tells me 1) like most people, you don't understand what DEI means (to be fair, there are probably hiring managers who don't either and think it means some kind of vague quota system) 2)you really don't have specific facts to back that up, and it's mostly about people mistaking their feelings for reality.

From a January Forbes article:

Before DEI, a person’s career success (hiring, placement, portfolio projects, raises and promotions) might not have anything to do with merit. You could solely—and immediately—be included or excluded in the candidate pool based on nothing more than your gender, race, ethnicity, age, looks, friendships, family money, etc.

DEI has been designed and put in place to prevent this when possible. But even with DEI in place, it’s too often the case that meritless considerations are used to help people get ahead in life and in their careers. By meritless, I mean circumstances that have nothing to do with performance, knowledge, skills, abilities or education such as who you know, who they know, political affiliations, family legacy programs, beauty and attractiveness, transactional power plays, etc.

DEI isn’t about quotas. This is what people get wrong. DEI is not about putting unqualified people in jobs or hiring individuals because of gender, ethnicity, race, age, sexual preference, etc. It’s about hiring individuals—because they are highly qualified—regardless of their gender, ethnicity, race, age, sexual preference, etc. And, it’s about doing so with the knowledge that many people have historically been marginalized and disregarded as suitable job candidates precisely because of these factors.

Trump's administration is a very good example of a meritless system.
