Thank you. The campus was rocky this year but changes are in place that look promising. |
What do you think this may mean for incoming seniors? Will Duke accept more international students to make up for the reduced number enrolling this year? Or will they assume the issues with international students will continue and possibly accept more U.S. students? |
It’s all so volatile, my guess is no plan any which way as of now. |
Honestly, could mean smaller freshman admits all around if they have so many kids who deferred to next year. |
No idea. I doubt they even know at this point. I think Duke is finding itself in the same spot as schools like Michigan, but they are a month+ behind the curve. |
The students who deferred would all be international students, who fit a different institutional need. That probably means that Duke won't accept as many international students from the class of 2026? |
Except many international are full pay too |
They are laying off a lot of staff and had some buy outs earlier this year. A friend works in their communications department and is waiting for her letter. This is after benefits were cut. Staff are furious since the school has plenty of $$$. |
Duke basketball looks really good this year and football should also be solid. Go to Duke! Buy your kid a tent for KVille! |
Same thing happening at Northwestern. Benefit cuts were huge. Both schools are increasing their full-pay numbers in this year's freshman class. I'd image this is true at other schools? |
Duke didn't waitlist any ED deferrals (which I think was awesome!--all Schools shouldn't do this) |
Oops. "Should" do this. |
They were probably trying to be transparent and figured, people don't want their hopes up unnecessarily so let's just say publicly we are not taking more. Then things changed. As others said, weird year. |
They are probably overenrolling with full pays because they need the cash! |
This is typical of this year….shoot your shot! Apply to 20! Play the WL game!!
