Duke reopened WL today

Can someone explain why the waitlists are all still open in AUGUST????? Is this solely because of International students? When will this end?

Yes, international students had various deadlines for getting visas processed. For some schools it was 7/31. This is exactly when I'd expect waitlist movement to happen.

Does this suggest a large number of students that were going to attend Duke have since been accepted off other waitlists and made a switch, thus opening up more spots at Duke?

This year does seem unlike any other, probably due to so much uncertainty for international students.
