Israel strikes Iran despite Trump's nuclear deal hopes

Behind the scenes:

Israel was concerned yesterday that Trump's remarks about a possible Israeli attack were rousing the Iranians.
Someone was sent to President Trump, and he tweeted this reassuring post at midnight and nine minutes Israeli time - we are still committed to a diplomatic solution.

2:49 Then the war began.
I think this all plays to Trump’s persona. He likes to set unrealistic deadlines, and then consequences when they are not met. Here it was 60 days.

This is apparently just the beginning of a prolonged effort, since the key unground cites (Fordow) were not seriously damaged. That’s going to take one or more of those special bunker buster bombs, which I assume the US has control over. Or an invasion.

So this may all be part of a negotiation strategy. Time will tell, but Iran is definitely “on the clock.”

Trump is doing nothing except golfing

I wonder who really is running this? Any guesses?

Your an i@iot.

Oh, the sweet, sweet irony

Seriously though - you call people “idiot” for believing that Iran should not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. So therefore you DO believe Iran should have nuclear weapons.

Explain yourself.

Iran supports Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, who all are committed to the destruction of Israel, so they are my heroes. So sayeth the prolific Palestinian pro-Hamas poster who uses this platform to try to garner sympathy for those who deserve none.

So does every Muslim country including Qatar, Trump’s new best friends.

Ah but the Qatari understand Trump.

Israel is doing what they have to, to ensure their existence.

Just sit back and watch the choreography of a well run military and intelligence service.

Ah you Netanyahu nuts

I wonder if any Israelis actually have it in them to push back. Probably not

Yep.
I guess this is why liberals hate Israel so much.
They are very effective.

No new wars. Alternative reality, "Israel would have never attacked Iran if I were President..."

It was approved unanimously by the cabinet so it appears the people approve.

Are you joking?

This was a strategic and excellent move by Israel. Getting rid if irans nuclear program has been a goal of Trump”s for years. If anything this strike and the ones to come will result in more peace in th ME.

Exactly, this is all part of Trump's controlled war strategy to prevent all out war and pressure Iran. Only the naive cannot see that these are just part of tactical negotiations

Iran had nukes for almost 20 years and they didn’t bomb a soul. Why is this a threat and a concern? They are not going to bomb Israel or America. Only one country is in history for using nukes.

Trump is mentally unstable. If his poll numbers decline, he will throw Bibi under the bus.. again!

Stephen Miller is our president. He bombed the Houthis, per the signal chat.

F that. I'm so sick and tired of the middle east. We have no healthcare. Our currency and bonds are crashing because of our out of control debt.

American military involvement overseas needs a goddamn counterbalance. We waste SO much money bombing goat herders because of stupid religious feuds going back 3000 years while our people are dying of insulin. Iran is none of US' concern.

You’d like to see China back Iran because you think that would lead to universal healthcare in the us?

You think that Iran having nuclear weapons, an oppressive regime that has destroyed Iran and funded massive destabilization in the region, is the key to peace in the Middle East and beyond? The Middle East hates western civilization. Whether you like Israel or not (and I hate Netanyahu) Israel striking Iran benefits the US without the US having to do so directly.
