I'm thinking invading Israel on October 7th was maybe a pretty stupid idea after all. The entire power structure of the region has been subsequently destroyed and upended.

Indeed. FAFO.

Taking out Iran's military capabilities might even bring the Ukraine war to an end because it will no longer be able to supply drones to Russia.

This will also not lead to a larger war in the Middle East. Iran does not have many friends anymore, Russia's military capabilities and manpower have been decimated, and China has its own economic worries with regard to U.S. tariffs. That leaves North Korea as one of Iran's only significant nation-state "friend", but Kim Jong Un has a relationship with President Trump that is stronger than the one he has with Iran.

Anyone who thinks Trump wasn’t totally clued into this attack is t paying attention. He fully approves.

Behind the scenes:

Israel was concerned yesterday that Trump's remarks about a possible Israeli attack were rousing the Iranians.
Someone was sent to President Trump, and he tweeted this reassuring post at midnight and nine minutes Israeli time - we are still committed to a diplomatic solution.

2:49 Then the war began.

The fact that a good part of this operation was WITHIN Iran tells me there are higher ups in Iran working with Israel. The Iranian people want this regime gone. Hopefully this will accomplish the end of the regime.

Your an i@iot.

Oh, the sweet, sweet irony

Seriously though - you call people “idiot” for believing that Iran should not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. So therefore you DO believe Iran should have nuclear weapons.

Explain yourself.

DP. I concur with the grammatically-challenged poster above because you are indeed an idiot who's been manipulated by fearmongering.

A sampling for you:

1992 – Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres: "Iran is expected to have nuclear weapons by 1999."

1995 – U.S. Defense Secretary William Perry: "Iran may be less than five years away from a nuclear weapon."

1998 – Former CIA Director Robert Gates: "Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons and could have them in a few years."

2002 – Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon: "Iran is on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons."

2005 – U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice: "Iran's nuclear program is moving forward. We must act before it's too late."

2006 – Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert: "Iran is months away from nuclear weapons capability."

2009 – U.S. President Barack Obama: "Iran may be one to two years away from developing a nuclear weapon."

2012 – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (UN speech): "Iran is a few months away from nuclear weapons capability."

2015 – U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry: "Iran is two months away from nuclear breakout."

2018 – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "Iran lied about its nuclear program and is closer than ever to a bomb."

2020 – U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo: "Iran is dangerously close to nuclear weapons capability."

2021 – Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz: "Iran is weeks away from enriching uranium to weapons-grade levels."

2022 – U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan: "Iran is approaching nuclear breakout."

2023 – Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett: "Iran is closer than ever to nuclear weapons."

2024 – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken: "Iran is dangerously close to nuclear capability."

Wow! Thanks very much for this visual aid— very telling.

I think this all plays to Trump’s persona. He likes to set unrealistic deadlines, and then consequences when they are not met. Here it was 60 days.

This is apparently just the beginning of a prolonged effort, since the key unground cites (Fordow) were not seriously damaged. That’s going to take one or more of those special bunker buster bombs, which I assume the US has control over. Or an invasion.

So this may all be part of a negotiation strategy. Time will tell, but Iran is definitely “on the clock.”

It's missing all the quotes of Israeli politicians from the 1980s though claiming Iran was so close to having nuclear weapons

Iranians dislike their government but they certainly don’t want Israel and America there to invade

This. Negotiation with a totalitarian extremist regime is futile.

Talking was Iran stalling for time.

Israel is doing what they have to, to ensure their existence.

Just sit back and watch the choreography of a well run military and intelligence service.

Iran supports Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, who all are committed to the destruction of Israel, so they are my heroes. So sayeth the prolific Palestinian pro-Hamas poster who uses this platform to try to garner sympathy for those who deserve none.

So does every Muslim country including Qatar, Trump’s new best friends.
