I’ve been asking my landlord for a while. I’ve even offered to pay, but he wants his trees.

Your renting this place? You may be able to break the lease if your landlord can't do anything about it. Move.

I would be very concerned about a significant amount of human feces in my backyard if I had kids. Lots of diseases can pass through feces. Why do you think we have implemented modern sanitation throughout our country and world? Landlord needs to be brought in for clean up and making sure this guy doesn't come back.

Get a Ring motion activated floodlight camera. He won't sleep there because the lights will be on every time he tries to move. He picked your house BECAUSE you do not have security cameras or motion lights.

Ok, which congressman or senator are you? Fess up!

Invite him inside like a decent human being.

Yikes! 😱

That certainly IS cause for concern - most especially since you are a woman that lives alone w/her children.

I would be a little on edge myself.
The most you can probably do now is make sure all doors + windows of your home are properly secured in place.
If you have any close neighbors who you could alert that would be helpful as well.
Good neighbors look out for each other.

Hopefully the man is harmless & will not return.
It is sad how so many people out there do not have a place to call home these days.

Get a gun. You can accidentally fire it and claim he threatens you. As a woman, you won't be charged.

WTF.

While this is an annoying problem, this man is not HURTING her. There is no reason to shoot someone here.

I’m typically unbothered by most things. However this would bother me, especially since it’s been ongoing. Guard dog or install cameras and a no trespassing sign

We jave a Wyze camera and an SD card. I cam moniyor from phone app. Don't pay for cloud storage.

Good lighting is also a deterrent. We also NEVER leave any door unlocked, all first floor windows are alarmed, always double check cars at night.

If it's just a matter of keeping weirdos out of your yard, you can buy no-dig fencing that is not permanent at a big box store, stick in front of the arborvitae and it might just be enough to persuade him to go to someone else's yard: https://www.lowes.com/pd/No-Dig-Actual-3-8-ft-x-4-7-ft-Grand-Empire-XL-Black-Steel-Pressed-Point-Decorative-Metal-Fence-Panel/1000864882

Police told us the best defense is a dog.

LMAO. Defund those police.

I had a friend who was a longtime criminal defense lawyer with PDS, and he also said that, based on his client's information, dogs are the best deterrent. They are unpredictable and at least career criminals like predictability. Unclear whether the random person camping in your yard thinks the same way.

Get a dog.

Run a lawn sprinkler out to the yard. Turn it on from the outside hose bib but then find the shut-off in the house. That way you can turn it on from inside the house anytime you want.

Get the landlord to install a fence.

Anyone can install a cheap, Ring camera in minutes and it's like $45/year for the app that monitors the camera and will send you motion alerts if you want that.

Install inexpensive solar lights. You can get them for as little as $1 each for the stick lights, or about $15 for a string of lights.

Seriously lady, use you common sense.

Do you have Alexa, or just internet access? Play a recording of a loud, snarling, barking, growling dog as loud as you can with the back window open. No one wants to mess with a big, mean dog who sounds like he wants to tear you apart.
