DC Public and Public Charter Schools
| I have heard her say publicly that she supports effective charters. I don't think parents at successful charter schools would say she is against charters. |
Alrighty then! Best be getting on your way out of town. Chaos is just around the corner and will be taking over the day after the election. That doesn't leave you much time. Bye-bye!
|
again, I did not say that all charters are bad. I said that the impetus for charter school was race based segregation couched in religious freedom. Urban school systems were sold a bill of goods on charters so that legislators could fund their racially segregated systems. Of course there all kinds of charter schools, most of them bad. I mentioned Latin because it is one of the better ones, which not coincidentally is popular with a more affluent population. Since you have so much confidence in Gray, Jeff, I'm sure you're planning to enroll your kids in your local public school next year, right? No? I didn't think so. It's fun to insult those that disagree with you and play devil's advocate about the esoterica of education when your kids aren't get chewed up in the little experiment. You have lost your objectivity and credibility on this subject by tracking my posts on this board and sock pupetting your attacks on me here. Tsk, tsk. Way to be objective, moderator. Jeff tracks post of political opinions he doesn't like. What else are you tracking here? |
You wish. My kids will just be clawing their way along as best they can. Jaded self interested jerks will just make it that much less pleasant for them. I'll continue to be a ward three home owner with a nice life that I work hard to pay for and you'll continue to whine endlessly about what the "man'" owes you. We'll see where your attitude toward life gets you. Good luck with that!

I have been reading this thread...wow.
DC needed a Rhee. Our system was so so so broken, so unaccountable, so wasteful, such an embarrassment. Well, we got a Rhee. She knocked skulls together, offended people, and generally charged through all the blockades. I was offended by her as much as the next person, but what else was to be done? HOW can change happen in this city? HOW? Listening to the unions? They put the WORST teachers in the WORST schools!!! Should we spend more money? We did that forever! Made things worse. I think she is acting like a petulant child right now. But I am interested in watching this petulant child continue her changes. The whole warrior woman shit makes me cringe, but she brought some change to this city, and frankly, the scorched earth method was needed. DC is schizophrenic. We want the change, but don't want to crack the eggs to get it. What? MORE teaching training. Give me a break. There are MANY teachers out there who I would not let watch a rock, let alone teach children. Are they going to come back? I am disgusted with Rhee and her sanctimonious ways, but we need her to finish the job. She won't, but I fear that some middle of the road mess is now coming. Someone who is yanked around by all the groups. It is a mess. Again. |
Also, not sure why you isolated this section of my post Jeff. It's not relevant to your question, really. Do you also track the IP addresses of post on less salient threads? That's gonna have a chilling effect on people's sense of privacy here. I was going to let you slide but when you sad that I was ignorant because I disagree with you--and you obviously are out your depth on the legislative history of charters that's when I call you out. And Dorrie do your own homework. You're entitled to disagree with WaPo's exit poll analysis. It takes time to take the true measure of voting data--the general election hasn't even happened yet. Zogby, et al, has not or may not ever weigh in on DC's self destruct vote. It's like when DC voters re-elcted Barry even after the crack tapes were national news. They were protecting a "Native Son". DC voting patterns are emotional and irrational. It defies analysis at times. Whatever. |
Every single post on this website is tracked just as every single post on every other website is tracked. That's not something that is hidden, but something that if fully disclosed in our FAQs. You have the unfortunate luck to have a very recognizable IP number and a fairly recognizable writing style. As a result, I know which posts are yours whether I want to or not. I can understand why you would want to hide from your views. I'd hide from them if I were you as well. Your propensity to post pictures of Hitler has generated a number of complaints, BTW. Your guy lost the election. Deal with it. Your wild conspiracy theories and increasingly personal attacks are doing nothing to help your cause. If you are so convinced that Gray will be a disaster for DCPS, it's time for you to move or go private. If you going to take your chances with what you believe to be a "little experiment", you are not doing what you believe to be the best for your children. And, finally, I don't sock puppet replies to you. Unlike you, I own my opinions. I stand by what I write. I don't run and hide from my posts or cry like a baby because someone points out a trend of my posts. |
Wow, I'm so lucky to be graced with your brilliance. Go back. You haven't been here long enough to understand DC politics. |
| J. Steele: Thanks for running a fair and open place for all of our opinions. Separately, to Rhee Fanatics, RHEE-LAX! She will "be fine" and now, according to Her, "Reform in DC may continue without Her"... I don't understand the pull with the media, however. Tonight NBC was busy reporting about the great improvements under Rhee in DC...didn't test scores dip last year? Oh, well, I'm happy to post my name, too: Maureen, parent of two boys, one fled for private for 7th (as about 50 or so of his school mates have done from Oyster-Adams to Deal, unfortunately we're not in the boundary). Why are parents fleeing from Oyster-Adams? Anyone? |
Right. Your writing style is also recognizable and your opinions on this topic are well known and you are stifling debate here because you don't agree with it. The hitler posts are meant to be completely ironic. No one has remotely said other wise. If anyone is taking that any of it literally then they are to simple to respond to, really. My IP address is no more distinctive than anyone else's. You have an irrational fixation on any dissent about the recent primary. It is disingenuous of you to pretend that anonymity somehow a weakness on my part when you know that encourages honesty and informality. No one is watching the watcher even when your footprints are all over your posts. You have the technology to hide here and you have been. And now you're being a bully about it. Whatever. |
| 20:41 -- you are scarey. If you're actually rational, share your name? Experience? Steele is heroic in bringing certain facts to the table. Don't like it? Start your own DC Urban Something? |
Your paranoia is getting to you. To hide, all I would have to do is logout. I really wouldn't call that technology. I'd call it acting like you. But, no, I don't post here anonymously. The thing is, I could post anonymously calling you every name in the book and nobody would think anything about it. But, when I post a response pointing out Rhee's connections to charter schools, I'm called a "bully". I guess it's easier to call me names then to debate the facts. |
| Go Jeff! :} Maureen |
Yes. You're right that's all I done here on this board. Call you names. Well, at least I know you'll say anything to make your point on this. It isn't true, but you have plenty of posts here that agree with you. I have no paranoia. You are inciting people here to gang up on me now because you don't like what I am saying politically. That is all. Good day. |
| Hey, 21:00 -- no one is ganging up on you. We all on this board enjoy and learn from every view point. Hope you don't keep your valuable insight from the dialogue...Anyway, Good Night (as opposed to Good day). |
