However, no establishment will want more than 3-4 teens at one table. That’s obnoxious. Too many kids. Why not have a party at home or rent a private room in restaurant so you don’t bother other patrons?

Not everyone likes sushi. Horrible idea.

I’m shocked that they let you do that. I’ve always heard that it’s against health codes to bring outside food into a restaurant. If OP decides to do this, she should clear it ahead of time with the restaurant.

Against health codes?! Where are you from? It’s not like I’m going into the food prep area with it.

When we all had toddlers we always carried in snacks to restaurants such as applesauce and what not. There is no health code violation at all. Relax.

It is and inappropriate. You feed your kids before you go in.

You feed your kids before going to a restaurant? No we are there to eat. If little kids get hungry before their meal comes, however, they can certainly have a packed snack. Or we can given them an applesauce to go with their purchased kids meal.

Do you also consider it a health violation if a mother feeds her infant a bottle??

A bottle is not food. Yes, I fed mine before we went out as they got cranky when hungry. These are teens you don’t bring food.

It is perfectly ok to bring a birthday cake or cupcakes to a restaurant for after the meal if you are already paying for a meal there. Go ahead and call the restaurant and ask. If you don’t want to, that’s fine. But someone who may be on a stricter budget and can’t afford for every kid to get a slice of cheesecake may appreciate this option. It is not a health violation or rude to the server.

I think it really depends on your budget. At that age, we ordered out and did it at home because my daughter refused to cut out anyone from her “friend group.” We weren’t willing to go over $350, so concessions had to be made. We did give her options like a pizza party at a restaurant, but she chose fajitas from Guapos. Not sure if they still have it, but they had a fajita deal that included the chips, salsa, and fajitas for a relatively decent price. We they had a cupcakes from somewhere that she was craving. Kids had a great time, I still did no cooking, and price was in target.

I always see groups of teens at Benihan celebrating at Benihana whether it’s birthdays or homecoming.

We did this with the family style takeout from uncle Julio’s. Got enchiladas and fajitas, and then could fill out with drinks and fruit and guac we bought ourselves. Kid chose a cheap cake (Costco or carvels or something) so that helped too. We ended up with tons of leftover beans and rice that I froze and had for dinners for a while after.

Another idea is the hot pot places where you pay a set fee, so at least you know what the price will be. Those places are fun and have big tables so they won’t mind a group of teens. My teens love those places.
