My dd13 and 14yo friends are obsessed with the idea of going there. We haven’t yet (not since dd was 5 or so). But I think that’s fun for their age. |
When my DD did something similar when at a restaurant I said no more than 150$ (Her and two other friends and the place was cheap enough that you could get a good meal off that for 3 people). She spent 685$ and a ton of leftovers she threw out the next day after I told her to keep it and the family can eat over the course of a few days. I made her get a job and she had to give me all her checks until her bill was paid. She now also can only use her own money when going out with friends (with some exceptions). |
Do not do this at a restaurant!!! So rude! |
At $10/slice per person which no one can finish in one setting, let alone after a giant meal? Yeah no. That would be an additional $120. You do you. My daughter was fine with the cupcakes I provided after dibber. She’s not a diva. |
It’s not that it’s rude to your daughter, it’s not ok to do to the server or the restaurant. Take them out for ice cream after or get take out at your house and serve cupcakes after, but tying up a table while not eating the restaurant’s food is essentially theft. |
Our waiter had no issue with it whatsoever. The bill was high enough. None of the girls even came close to finishing their meals and they were too full for even a small cupcake. No appetizers either. Also, the waiter gave DD a free ice cream! We left a nice tip. |
Have you actually ever eaten there? The portions are huge. No one ever has room for dessert. The restaurant had no issue with us bringing in our own cupcakes. You do you. |
For us it would be just desserts. I am not spending that much for a birthday dinner, for anyone in the family.
|
It’s not ok to do to the server?! What are you on about?! A lot of people bring their own cake in for a birthday celebration after spending money on a big meal at a restaurant. We’ve never had an issue at any restaurant - heck we even had a manager offer to take the cake for us and light the candles in the back and bring it to our table as a surprise. This is Cheesecake Factory, not some high end restaurant in NYC. Chill out! |
Somewhere near downtown Bethesda so they can walk to Jenni’s or Yogitopi after for ice cream. I like to cut it up and walk for the dessert. |
I already suggested uncle Julio’s but wanted to add that brief chocolate piñata is a really fun shared dessert. |
Maggianos is crazy expensive too. |
Cheesecake Factory is a great party place for that age group but hot dam if I'm letting my kid invite 14 friends to eat there! And we are loaded but that's some serious cash on a mediocre restaurants. You could cater and spend the same or less at home!
For 14 teens I'd either do pizza or park them outside at your house and get them frugging chick filet or 5 guys or cook. I would basically not do 14 teens actually! I would be ok for a cap of 6 total - that's like $250-300 right there so make sure to do the math before you commit! For 14 teens I'd rent out a place - going out to dinner at any sit down is gonna be $$$$$. |
+1 the place is so mediocre yet so pricey. |
I’m shocked that they let you do that. I’ve always heard that it’s against health codes to bring outside food into a restaurant. If OP decides to do this, she should clear it ahead of time with the restaurant. |
