Yes. Cut Gatehouse staffing by 50% and put the money into hiring more classroom teachers to reduce class sizes… |
| Totally! No one will get checks on time, it will take even longer to process new hires, broken computers and IT problems can just rot with no one to fix them, great idea! |
Exactly. The majority of people at Central office are not part of the overpaid leadership. |
I think everyone wants the people who do necessary work to be paid. But, should they be paid more than the teachers? i don't know. However, from the organization charts, there are plenty of people who appear to be in support of instruction, but are really not necessary. Three people to investigate Title IX violations? |
They are 12-month employees so I wouldn’t be surprised to find out their salary is higher. So there are about 180,000 students and over 40,000 employees, and those three employees investigate discrimination (gender, race, gender) issues? They may be be overworked. |
Oh shut up. Teacher pay has been dragging behind other professions for too long. |
The union sided with no one but the members they represent. They had absolutely nothing to do with the 5% raise given to the non union employees since they do not represent them. |
They could have pointed out the hypocrisy. They could have pointed out that more dollars could have been given to instructional staff. However, who do they really represent? They represent themselves. I think you will find that most are quite active in one of the political parties. |
| So teachers get a raise of some sort. IN SCHOOL support staff may be cut and people may loose their jobs. Classes will be bigger. There may be additional duties added to the school day. Is this really what union negotiating is all about? |
Go read the contract. Read about all the time off union reps get. |
Also, remember, their membership includes support staff, etc. It looks like most anyone who works for FCPS can be a member. So, why would they discourage a raise for HQ? |
Smoke and mirrors the FCPS way |
+1 |
That doesn't make it right or best practice-teachers can only do so much for so many-get a clue. |
|
Fire half the Gatehouse staff. No raise for the rest of Gatehouse Hire more teachers and instructional aides and have smaller classes. Give teachers and instructional aides a pay raise.
So simple a 5 year old could come up with the right answer, yet it is beyond Reid and the school board. |
