Got it. There will definitely be destaffs again and moving around to fill in what’s left. I’m sure she will be thrilled to say we are fully staffed for real next time! |
Once again, read the thread before you write. I also support teacher raises. |
They were just updated https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/pdf/fy26-teacher-195-day.pdf |
Since when have class sizes been 25? My kids routinely had 30-35 kids in their classes from 3rd grade up. |
My first year of teaching I had 180 kids in MS. I thought that as the norm…. |
|
One year, teaching for DOD I had 34 first graders. No aide at all.
I taught a number of years in various places, never had fewer than 28--except for one year when I had 21. Then, in October, we had a teacher cut--and I went up to 28 after her students were divvied out. Reached 30 many years. |
Teacher pay rates are almost indistinguishable from each other across the NoVa area. Honestly, you just come across as someone who is jealous of people working in the Central Office, you don't know anything about the workload these positions manage or anything at all about the capability of this group of employees. Just because a shrew like you is envious doesn't mean these people don't deserve any raise. Get a hobby or something. |
Honestly, you seem to be trying very hard to justify your useless central office position. I actually have firsthand knowledge about the workload of these positions and the capability of many of them. |
| Let’s be real. Cut all STEM, cut all AAP not classroom teachers, cut all curriculum specialists. Let teachers cook, keep class size small. |
| Axe all HR employees that don’t want to leave their house for work. |
Non-Fed/non-teacher here. I think they're extremely related. The people struggling without jobs or not getting their own raises while everything increases in cost have to pay higher taxes to fund these raises. I definitely consider this not reading the room and have said so myself before seeing this thread. |
The only room they read is the Fairfax County Democratic Committee. |
When things are booming and the people with non-teaching jobs are getting their own raises, do they advocate for those in the public sector to get higher raises? Perhaps they do, but I don’t recall many ever saying, “I’m getting a _____% raise and teachers are only getting ____%? That’s too low. Raise it to match what I’m getting”. |
This is just a post against all remote work. There’s no reason why someone processing benefit claims and filling out spreadsheets can’t work at home. Even with all of that in mind? I think the HR people went back like a year and a half ago. |
