It killed over a million Americans and you're acting like it didn't even happen. FFS

It seems like the GOP killing of Americans is almost a bonus for them.

A "let's cull the herd of anyone over 50 or already ill" type of thing.
That was Democrats keeping people in nursing homes, while DeSantis put them in hospitals.

Former Governor Cuomo is clearly showing to not actually being a democrat. Please do not ascribe his sensibility on to all democrats.

I agree with you on a personal level but to each their own regarding whether or not the Covid vaccine is worthwhile. Government shouldn't be forcing the Covid vaccine on anyone and government shouldn't be creating barriers for anyone who may wish to be vaccinated. Like with most things, less government is better government.

PP here. Yes, I agree with you. But where is the evidence that the government is preventing anyone from taking the Covid vaccine?

The OP of this thread suggested the Dept. of HHS was changing their stance on Covid Vaccines which could possibly lead to barriers for those still seeking updated vaccines. It appears HHS is ending their recommendations of getting updated Covid vaccines which isn't necessarily a barrier. My point was forward looking to may or may not happen.

I don't think government should have any role whatsoever in influencing medical decisions made by individuals for themselves or for their dependents. I advocated for and encouraged the Covid Vaccine in 2021 but I didn't support government mandates of any kind and I don't support government making it more difficult for anyone who wants to remain updated with Covid vaccines to do so.

the only government mandates were for people who worked for the government and military. Please stop with the BS. If your private employer mandated it, you could have quit and gotten a different job. If your kid's school mandated it, you could homeschool. But when living in a society with other people, the public health studies and rules are there to protect, particularly the people who are older, younger or immunocompromised, in this case.

I guess executive orders stopped by the courts don't count? Or we just pretending things didn't happen?

That is a good one.

I am fully vaxxed and boosted and keep getting covid. In fact, I had it a month ago and felt like death. Our policy at the workplace is to treat it like a cold.

Insurance won't pay, that appears clear. But will families still be able to get vaccinations at pharmacies? Will kids be able to get the vaccine at all? https://www.statnews.com/2025/05/15/covid-vaccine-recommendations-rfk-jr-reportedly-reversing-for-children-pregnant-women/

Why are you doing Covid hysteria 5 years later?

Just stop. If you trust The Science™️ you know that the vaccine neither stops transmission nor infection. And children have the least amount of morbidity from the virus.

Stop with your lies. Covid spread is proven to be reduced by vaccines.

So ignorant. Of course vaccines prevent covid. They also lessen severity which is a good thing.

Here's a powerful visual on the effectiveness of vaccines.

I don’t think you can use things about the general effectiveness of vaccines to make a point about the Covid vaccine specifically. I do think that parents should have the choice to vaccinate their kids due to COVID because it is a fact that they are at lower risk than elderly populations. That said everything in life has risks including the Covid vaccine. One of my previously healthy siblings developed heart inflammation from the vaccine which is a known but rare side effect. So in their case it probably would have been better to not have gotten it.

And my uncle who was only in his early 60s, died early in the pandemic before he had any chance to get any vaccine. If only he could have gotten it, he could be caring for and playing with his grandchildren today.

You say that with such conviction, but you are incorrect. The mandate was imposed on the federal government and military personnel AND ANY COMPANY THAT DID BUSINESS WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
That meant that 80 million people were subjected to this mandate. So UPS drivers, linemen, people that worked outside and healthy were being forced to get turn over their bodily autonomy to Biden.

This is why the general public aren’t shedding tears for Feds getting RIF’d. Because no one gave a eff when they were cut for refusing a vaccine that neither stopped transmission or prevented disease.

You can’t have to both ways. You are saying that the vaccine prevents Covid, but also reduces severity.

The vaccine does not prevent Covid. At all. Stop spreading lies.

Actually the COVID vaccine DID slow transmission and DID make COVID less deadly.

But now I wonder if life would have been better today if the federal government (under Trump, no less) had only mandated the military get vaccines and let everyone else who didn't want them die or get disabled by long COVID.

We might now have a competent President and government if most MAGAs had accidentally killed or disabled themselves. Of course the health system would have been completely ruined and lots of innocent people would have died, but that's probably going to happen in the next four years during the next pandemic anyhow.

PP is correct. The risk is reduced, but not completely eliminated.
