Why do you dislike law enforcement?

Interesting. What makes you say that?

Prior to Trump 2.0, Special Agents happily focuses on conducting criminal investigations involving drug smuggling, money laundering, war crimes, child exploitation, arms trafficking, commercial fraud, etc etc. Very few Special Agents were involved in making administrative (non criminal) arrests of illegal aliens. ICE has an Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Unit that handled that part. Upon 2.0, Trump dragged all available resources from ICE, HSI, FBI, DEA, ATF and others to assist ERO. They all HATE the work but what options do they have? They don’t want to quit and forfeit livelihoods, pensions and their families well being. They are following the orders of a dysfunctional administration. Trust me when I say most non-ERO are miserable. Unfortunately, due to this shifting of resources, very little criminal enforcement is going on right now. Every dummy that voted for this clown should be ashamed of themselves. Don’t get me wrong, I think bad illegal aliens should be rounded up and eventually deported but there should be a long-term strategy, and people’s civil rights and due process should not be violated.

Stop it. That's how Germany got the gestapo. They absolutely don't *have* to do this. They could quit.

But knowing that "not everyone has this experience" isn't enough to make you dislike law enforcement? I've never been victimized by LE. But I've seen them victimize others, and that's enough for me. I don't turn a blind eye until it affects me personally. Egad.

I have seen plenty of corrupt political leaders. That's enough for me. I advocate for no government.

DP. Because she has never seen them fill out an Excel spreadsheet.

Perhaps there’s more crime in your “non crime suburban area” than you realize.

How do you know? The police don’t show up places for no reason. They are called to locations.

Are we abolishing qualified immunity for everyone or just those you don’t like?

Who else gets qualified immunity? I thought that was just a law enforcement thing.

Government officials.

Such as judges and prosecutors etc? I agree with that, we should abolish qualified immunity for them too. Was there some other type of government official you were thinking of?

Judges have judicial immunity.

Think governors, mayors, etc.

Ok, yes, I think we should abolish qualified immunity for them too.

This black-and-white thinking is so MAGA. Can't make it perfect, so no choice but to let the status quo run to its worst impulses. All or nothing. Free rein for police bullies, or no police at all.

Where's the nuance? Where's the interest in incremental improvement? Are you that incapable of critical thought?

I truly hope that was sarcasm.

Because, as evidenced by their actions, they do not believe in the inherent dignity of all people. I have seen them take visible pleasure in tormenting vulnerable people.

Because they provide the muscle to the fascists who want to subjugate me and mine.

All of them? Every single one?

Any traffic law, for starters.

No, that cruiser does not need to be double parked for an hour, with the cop playing on his phone.

Police would get so much more respect if they even attempted to set a good example.

See above re: simplistic, black-and-white thinking. My kids were over that by age 6. If it's not all, it's nothing, right?

Me too. I am terribly upset that my government sent masked unidentified men to kidnap a female grad student off the street with no due process.

I also don't like the involvement that off-duty officers have had in things like Jan 6.

As an older woman, I have been patronized during some of my encounters with police. Although many have been appropriately polite.
