There are many threads about the pros and cons of BASIS. Wouldn’t it be nice if posters could go find one or more of those threads and carry on the discussion there and leave this one for the celebration of the Class of 2025? Just this one time.

So, 6 out of 46 students heading to Ivies is 13% of the class. If there is one more Ivy in the mix (as someone above mentioned), that’s 15% of the class. Don’t confuse the desire to know the truth (facts) with hate. Congratulations to all of the BASIS graduates! |

Not PP, but I think they were being sarcastic. |
Agreed. There is a thread that has no posts asking people to shout out the college results for their schools. People would rather slam BASIS that say what's good at their own schools. Frivolous jealousy IMO. Congrats to BASIS students, families and staff! |
I actually think this poster was challenging some of the well worn tropes about BASIS, especially in light of what this class has done college admissions-wise. That said, as the parent of one of these kids headed to a “selective” school, and with a sibling soon to go through the process, the criticism of BASIS’s extracurricular offerings is fair. It’s not a 2000 student suburban high school. If your kid is a serious athlete, for example, BASIS just doesn’t really have the resources to support that. Students just have to be prepared to find those and other serious extracurricular opportunities outside of school. And they do. |
See? You couldn’t resist complaining rather than focusing on these kids. Find another thread. |
College is still a thing in this America? Who knew. |
Point taken. Though, you are also complaining about my post. Still, let's start anew. Congratulations to BASIS students, families and staff on these achievements! |
🙄 |
I'm a Basis parent and DCPS teacher. You could probably find the same number of kids going to top tier schools at other schools in DCPS and DCPCS. I don't see the purpose of this post. I know exceptional students at BASIS making reasonable decisions about their college path in light of astronomical costs. I am terrified for my student that will be going off to school in 4 years time and to think about what those campuses might look like given the attacks on academic freedom currently. Bloody Hell! Stop the bragging about the universities, the kids at BASIS have to endure enough stress. |
I call troll. The purpose of this thread is to celebrate the graduating class of BASIS DC. Really doubt that PP is a DCPS teacher if they couldn’t figure that out. |
You definitely could not find the same percentage of graduating kids at top schools. I think you forget that BASIS only has ~42 kids in its senior class. If JR sends the same number out of a graduating class in the hundreds (or whatever it is), that is NOT a similar outcome. |
lol Exactly |
True enough.
J-R has ~540 in the senior class. They have around 3 going to Ivies and 1 Stanford (some athletic recruits). That is less than 1% of the class. If BASIS DC is sending 15% of the senior class just to Ivies (not to mention a lot of other good schools), they are certainly doing well. No athletic recruits at BASIS either. |
Oh. But, I am! I have no problem congratulating and celebrating students for their hard work, but they are not on this site. |
