Of course Virginia Giuffre suffered mental health struggles, I’ve never met a childhood trauma survivor who didn’t, especially girls and boys who are sexually abused and exploited as she was. THIS is precisely why we should all find such crimes abhorrent, because they inflict a life sentence on the victims.

I’m sickened to see some of the comments on social media including the one here which dismiss her suicide as irrelevant. Some in our government and in our society would like to normalize the exploitation of pubescent and adolescent children for the perverted sexual pleasure of mostly men, but also women. When you see this dismissiveness you’re seeing someone who might not say it out loud but doesn’t see all that much wrong with nailing middle schoolers and high schoolers. It’s beyond gross.

Virginia posted the comment about not being suicidal not long after Epstein suicided in his cell. She probably doubted if it was suicide, as many others doubt.

We need to have transparency on this case and all the associates of Epstein should be revealed, no matter where the chips lay at the end. I’m sure there will be some that disappoint everyone- as a former prosecutor I know that perverts come in all colors and political stripe etc. But if we don’t pursue transparency in this case we are normalizing trafficking of preteens and teens.

There is so much to comment on here.

I agree that Ghislaine Maxwell is a malevolent “pick me” with a criminal corrupt lineage thanks to her father. She is seedy and vile and I agree that she did everything possible to be Epstein’s love. He was a child rapist blackmailer so he’d never marry her. She fed his criminal sexual activities and she raped kids and trapped women, too, and their victims have said that on background and during her trial.

Virginia Giuffre was a brave person who was raped, abused, and terrorized during her life. She was maligned and lied about by extraordinarily powerful people. The only person she’s ever named who is smart enough to keep his criminal mouth shut is George Mitchell, who enjoyed decades of public reverence for his work in Ireland and for MLB, as much as for the Senate. He and his way younger second (still long term) wife have been the only, literally only, powerful figures to STFU. It’s evident he is guilty of rape and of facilitating trafficking. If this staid Democratic Mainer who operated at a James Baker level of political killer was involved, if Trump was involved, if Leon Black and Bill Clinton and MIT profs took flights, at some point we need to admit to ourselves that what Giufree and other women told Julie Brown and Alex Acosta’s office happened, happened.

It is important to discuss these crimes against these children and adult women in precise detail, and it is an ethical, moral, and often legal lapse to pretend that doing so is salacious and offensive to serious people. I was just reading up on this woman. As sorry as I am that she was taken advantage of and didn't lead a happy life, I can't believe she committed suicide and left behind 3 children. As a woman and a mother, I can't think of any scenario were I would leave my child to grow up without me.

Not only did this woman suffer sexual abuse and a lifetime of mental illness because of these sick perverts who pry on children but rather than seeing justice after coming forward with her story she suffered further abuse, threats and harassment. Read the probable cause report from when this case originally came to light in Florida and explain to me how this man managed to get no jail time, he was free to continue his abuse for years. Here’s a very disturbing article from an interview with Elliot Spitzer who, if you don’t know, once returned a $50k donation to his campaign by Epstein. He basically says sexual assault is no longer an issue the voters care about. Seeing as our president and so many others seem to assault woman unabashedly and without fear of consequences.
