Are they not giving ppl the chance to pull out of contracts without penalty under that circumstance. Cause if that’s not at least being offered then it’s another red flag.

This is not true and not what pp said. I agree that would be both unfair and a red flag it that we’re the case.

Do they know if they are going to allow people to leave without penalty? Are they going to continue to support kids who want to leave by writing recommendations etc . . . ?

Yes!

I posted earlier that my current 11th grader will be staying. We received a refund of our deposit last week. I don't have any additional info, but would assume that at some point soon, we'll be signing new contracts for next year. I also think it was the right choice to have the outplacement fair today, and that it's always a good idea for people to know their options. There are many excellent schools out there.

I don’t see how they can make this decision. A lot of families are understandably going to leave and they’re going to have a difficult time attracting new families with this news. If half the school leaves (and some teachers), do they have the means to stay open?

I did NOT like the Board note about "we'll be working hard to regain your trust" though. No, you can't do that. You need to resign and understand that you've lost the trust of the community!

But this is a good day!

Well said. Can the board be ousted?

“Can”? I feel like isn’t keeping the same board a non starter?

Agree. First condition should be the board has to resign.

I need so much more than their resignation. I want a commitment from whatever the new leadership is to do an independent autopsy of the past 10 years and explain in detail what happened so we can understand the real cause and have a corrective action plan that actually addresses the problem. I also want to understand how many students need to reenroll this year and in the next 3 years to keep the school in the black going forward? And will they lay off teachers and staff if enrollments are as low as likely this next year?

I don’t understand how they know they have enough funding for 3 years.
Based on what operating cost
Based on what minimum enrollment
Based on which repairs being done
Based on what tuition rate

Are they saying they’ll stay open with full staff and programs even if they only get 50 students to enroll for 3 years?

Yes. So are the new LS and MS heads. They were present at the staff-coalition meeting a few nights ago.

When the BOT first announced the closure, they said "we would need 14–16 million over the next three years to stay open." So presumably they already did the math when looking at whether to close the school.

The coalition is still collecting pledges. But they haven't announced the new total since Saturday.

We don’t go to SSFS and never applied — live too far away.

Glad to hear SSFS will remain open. I hope the (clearly needed) leadership changes happen in a timely manner.

So they did the math with a potential unlimited drop of enrollment?

But they also said it can’t be done. A week later ppl announce they were totally wrong. But you’re still depending on their math?

Okay..
