SSFS Will Stay Open

Anonymous
If SSFS is staying open, why are they still going ahead with the outplacement fair tonight? Things just aren’t adding up …

Are the actively wanting their students to get recruited elsewhere?

I can tell you that my school has had 6 SSFS employees interview within the past week. 6. I know my school pays more than SSFS, as well, and is stable.

The ride ahead is indeed bumpy.

It would have been unethical to not go ahead with the outplacement fair. SSFS made the right call to still hold the event. We are staying at SSFS and thrilled with the news.

This can't be stated strongly enough. We're in for a bumpy ride.

Those of us choosing to stick with SSFS are not stupid. We know there are still bumps ahead.

Please slow your roll and take a breath. Literally said “we’re in for a bumpy ride”

WE.

Nobody called you stupid. The defensiveness is a lot, even taking the emotions into account.

For those in the know, some questions:

Who is leading this coalition?

Who is this person who allegedly matched 2000 family donations?

If part of the problem is that people in the community defaulted on earlier pledges, why are they committing to three years on … the word of the community?

New family. Really struggling to see how this can work. I hope it will, but it is hard to know who to trust.

No way I would stay unless my child was a junior or maybe a sophomore.

I really hope this zoom call answers our questions. We're on the fence. I really worry that we'll hear lots of nice things but nothing concrete. I'm hoping for the best but glad we have two other really good options. I'm just having a hard time feeling like this will be the same school we chose. I would love to hear someone's take that reassures me.

This is a good take. It's ok to choose SSFS, but that's what it would be. They announced a closure and took steps toward that. We now feel like we're choosing where to go, not whether to stay or not.

Right back atcha on the defensiveness. You assumed quite a lot about someone's emotions from a simple post. Further, your call for a poster to "slow their roll" and to "take a breath" is rather condescending.

I don’t see how we can trust this board. Even if they have a plan. How did they let it get to the point of closure—and now suddenly now they can reopen? It makes me wonder what they explored to stay open. Not much if there was this kind of money available.

Are they not giving ppl the chance to pull out of contracts without penalty under that circumstance. Cause if that’s not at least being offered then it’s another red flag.

This is not true and not what pp said. I agree that would be both unfair and a red flag it that we’re the case.

Do they know if they are going to allow people to leave without penalty? Are they going to continue to support kids who want to leave by writing recommendations etc . . . ?
