Maybe we need an atheists forum

Because you interrupt threads with specific questions about Christianity or questions about religion in general to spew hate at us.

You typically leave posts that are specifically about other religions more alone. Must be nice.

No this is false. 2 times.

1. Asking questions is not "spewing hate".

2. Every religion is just as unsupported by evidence as yours.

There is no scientific evidence for GOD but science studies the natural world.
If GOD exists beyond nature, demanding lab proof is like demanding a microscope detect sarcasm.
Science and theology ask different questions. Conflating them is a category error.

- Asking for evidence, scientific or otherwise
- if God interacts with the natural world then by definition it can be detected. If he does not interact with the natural world then why do we care or how do we even know he is real?
- Your claim that "Science and theology ask different questions. Conflating them is a category error" is called "special pleading" and weakens your position more than any other. All we are asking is the same type of justification for your belief as we all have (including YOU) for every other belief we hold.

The sun gives light to everyone.
What you do with that light is up to you.

Why are you talking about the sun? We know plenty about it, including the fact that it exists:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun

Now, can you answer the questions WRT to god?

Well when Christians try to share the good news with you, which is literally a central piece of our religious practice you get all offended. And obviously the same is true when your non-belief dictates that you should proselytize your atheism to convert others….so there will be a natural clash.
The difference is that in my worldview, it is actually harmful to cause others to fall away from Christ. And in your worldview—it makes no difference whether someone believes or not because the result is the same.
So I just don’t understand the motivation on Team Atheist that causes you to agitate for sport.

Can you understand that others are not interested in your worldview? Your belief does not affect how others think or act.

With this forum though, it's kind of amazing that people post ABOUT atheists, and then get offended when atheists post.

OK but what about the questions like the one about helping kids sit through church where the atheists came in and just hijacked the thread with many (now deleted) posts that were simply attacking the OP and anyone who had the nerve to think that it was a good idea to have their children in church?

So long as your beliefs impact things like how sex ed is taught in schools, the ability of a person to choose what happens inside their body, or blatant attemps to perpetuate the brainwashing by including the Bible, ten commandments, or any other religious item in schools, then I will argue that parents should be faulted for forcing their children into believing into myths and continuing the cycle. When believers leave us alone, I'll leave them alone.

Stop with nonsense and metaphor. If you can't explain with reasons then that says everything needed about your position.

Do you see people telling the Jews that they believe in fairy tales and a bronze age religion and worse on this thread? https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1262532.page

Looks like it was left to be a fairly reasonable discussion to me.

Same with other posts that aren't about Christianity or general religion. They get to discuss.

Oh yeah people are so kind to Jews. SO kind to Jews. Nothing but love here. Go over to the political forum sometimes and see what names we get called. And you want to talk about unfair, cruel moderation? Yeah - go check it out.

On this forum, it’s generally about Christianity. Atheist and believer alike.

And no, it’s not always the believers talking about the atheists. How about the regular Qs like what made you return to religion? It’s an atheist waiting to pounce on those who try to have a discussion.

A philosophy/spirituality forum would be less likely to attract insincere and disingenuous posters.

As a PP stated, there are so many places specifically to discuss your christian faith with other christians, so perhaps one of them might be a better fit.
In addition, one of the reasons atheists seem to "target" christianity is that there is very real harm being done in this country by christians. And in actuality, the christian fundamentalists are the ones that actually follow the bible you all claim to believe in. Believers in more "moderate" forms of christianity that don't take the Bible literally are still doing harm as they are inadvertently providing legitimacy to those that wish to use the Bible to do real harm. That is why many atheists leave the jewish faith alone, for example. They leave others alone. At least in this county.

So you think people of a certain faith shouldn’t be represented here? That it’s too hostile so they should go elsewhere? And you admit you target one particular faith tradition?

Atheism is a faith-based belief system, so atheistic topics belong in the religion forum.

Atheism is not a belief, it is a lack of a belief. No faith is required.

So are you.

Nobody on the religion forum is actually religious.

It’s 80% atheists.

No, they are anti-theists fighting evangelical America one forum at a time.

As John Lennox would say, “Of course Atheism is a belief. Why, don’t you believe it?”

Well then it's established and proved: John Lennox said something stupid.
