His credit card gave me the ick

While that is an unusual looking credit card ๐Ÿ’ณ for a straight Male to carry around - I wouldnโ€™t call it a dealbreaker.

However if it truly bothers you then that is your right.
After all > one cannot help the way that they feel about something, right??

Thanks for the laugh ๐Ÿ˜†

I would guess over 90% of the Amex clients who choose that card are women, 9% gay men, <1% straight men.

I kind of live that card. Running off to see if I can exchange my plain Amex for that one.

Guy here, Iโ€™d check the box for the flower card reissue, easy.
He might not have been embarrassed about the card just the extra attention all at the same time, sometimes when people are bashful too much at once will shut them down and theyโ€™ll say anything to move the conversation along.
Itโ€™s not about his masculinity, itโ€™s not about not owning the situation itโ€™s just about too much attention at once, more of a processing issue.

Next you will get the ick from the way he twirls his spaghetti or fall towel, so please, if he happens to ask you out again politely decline and spare him the misery.

I have that card and love it. But, you do have to actively choose it, and there are other options. If you are at all environment-minded, this is a fine card to have, not sure why he was embarrassed about it.

But OP, you don't know why he was embarrassed either. If his embarrassment is bothering you, why not ask him about it? Maybe he grew up poor and is embarrassed to have a Platinum card. Maybe it's attached to his mom's card and she accidentally ordered all the same when she meant to ket the kids basic cards (in which case you may be dating my college kid). Maybe he's shy and isn't comfortable with a chorus of compliments over something so material.

It's a safe bet that the person using the phrase "gave me the ick" is the real problem in the situation. This thread is case-in-point.

Am I crazy for this bothering me? Nice date and he pays. He uses a metallic card which caught my eye because it had shiny eye-catching flowers on it. I say that's a really pretty card, even the waitress noted it's a pretty card. I think he was embarrassed by us calling it pretty, because it's sort of feminine? Instead of admitting he ordered it, his face turned a little red and he says it's just the replacement version they sent them. I don't know if the feminine card bothered me or just his lack of agency. Whatever the case it's been bothering me all week.

You are not crazy for letting this bother you.

You are emotionally very immature and should be dating until you become more of an adult.

Making fun of a man (or, in the case of your target market, a boy) for having something that you perceive as "feminine" should have been left behind in grammar school.

Imagine your date not thinking of it as silly nostalgia but immaturity.
