His credit card gave me the ick

Anonymous
I like very masculine men, and this would not bother me at all. It wouldn't even register with me to have a response either way.

The AmEx platinum is not a poor man’s credit card. OP, your loss. Maybe your next date’s Discover card with a $1000 credit limit will be manly enough for you?

I have literally never posted in this forum before.

In the 15 years I’ve been reading DCUM, I’ve never seen anyone use the phrase “gave me the ick” and all of a sudden twice in the past week someone posts that phrase about their date. Yeah, I’m not buying that you are only one of them.

I'm old, but still familiar with this phrase. It has been around at least a couple years now.

Basically "the ick" means when a woman finds a man unattractive, but doesn't want to call him ugly, so blames it on something else, often ridiculous reason, such as OP and the guys girly CC design.

"Red Flag" is also a synonym of "the ick", meaning same thing. "Eww this guy is (ugly, poor, short, skinny, fat, etc.) but it's not PC to say that, so I call him (creepy, weird, dumb, ignorant, girly, crazy, dangerous, etc.) to assuage my guilt of rejecting him."

Did he use the card to pay for a date's dinner recently?

Is this OP is a writer for Onion News Network?

You don't deserve this guy. Anyone carrying this card is making bank.

PP, oh gosh, yeah, that's just weird looking for a card. But you said he said it's a temp one, so he can change it.

On a more serious note, why is a man paying with plastic when he could be using cash. Flashing Bennies is better than some plastic.
As the old one liner goes, "Do you take plastic?"....."Only if it is wrapped in cash!"

Cash is gross. Anyone with sense and cents knows that Amex comes with far better benefits.

This post solved the dilemma of women's marriage crisis.

Is this some sort of weird reverse brag that your beau has that specific credit card?

So weird.

I always pay with my Navy Federal debit card and I get all the booty I can handle.

Op, healthy mind is a flexible mind. You don't have it. Makes sure people you meet, know it. Warn them about the incoming 'ick' also.
What about the conversation during the dinner? How was the card the most outstanding part of of the dinner? What about the food?

Assuming your husband has the regular platinum colored one, not this girly one?

I'm guessing you made it weird because it had flowers and his response was more of a response to your response, trying to gauge you, than it was his own discomfort based on having the card.

Large part of this guess is influenced by the fact that YOU MADE A POST ABOUT IT.

An Amex Platinum card requires an excellent credit score OP! Way to shame a guy who is financially sound. You’re a moron.

You have to go out of your way to request these unique Amex platinum cards, they’re not the default. It would also take no more than 24 hours to have the card replaced with the default card via overnight delivery. It would be masculine to admit he ordered that specific card and kept it because he too likes it and thank the ladies for the compliment. Instead he got red-faced, defensive and blamed Amex for sending it to him, which is deceptive, effeminate and weak.
