I’ve been active on the thread in support of the Turkish student who was abducted and I don’t agree with you. People shouldn’t be doxed for doing their job. I’m sure they’re just following orders and are prob low level LEOs.

Got it.

This is abhorrent. Embarrassing. If you are not sickened watching that Tufts abduction, you’re not an American I’d want in my community, my neighborhood, and especially my foxhole.

If you were one of those officers “following orders”, you’re a disgrace for not only failing to uphold our constitution, but for playing an active role in destroying it. Shame.

As a civil servant, I know my red lines, and hold myself accountable to the people and country I serve. I've already been disgusted at some lifelong friends at State telling me Rubio isn't so bad while he is actually committing some of the worst crimes against humanity, or siding with Russia at the UN. F that.

No one is absolved by being low level. We all took an oath, damnit.

Would this mean that people stop talking. I mean overall. Do we move towards silence on every single issue?

That is PRECISELY what those behind these efforts want … FFS, this DCUM community is flooded with nutters whose sole aim is to smear and silence the voice of anyone critical of exactly one foreign nation.

I'm only becoming more vocal in my condemnation of Israel and support of Palestinians.

What are they going to do, arrest me (a born citizen and atheist) for jaywalking when the road is completely clear? That's my only crime.

People need to not cower to this fascist and anti-democratic ideology. Zionism is a cancer that wants you to cave into their sickness.

This looks as if it’s created by the fake news local propaganda sites that were common about five years ago.

They all ran a mix of innocuous syndicated news and RT talking point stories. They had a lot of stock art, and you couldn’t figure out who created the site.

So, this could be a site created by ordinary loons who happen to be Jewish.

It could be a site that the Trumpies, Russians or others set up to hit three birds with one stone:

- Creating immigration-related terror.

- Attributing the terror to the Jews.

- Making everyone more scared of Trump.

I don’t have any good polling data, but I’m a genuine Jewish person, who has made brisket and matzoh balls that float, and this site is clearly a creepy, horrifically site.

Also: The Nation is a poor source for something like this. The last time I checked, it was running the same talking points about Ukraine as RT. It’s really just RT dressed up as an Amherst grad.

Haaretz has been on the Canary Mission beat for years, it’s clearly an arm of the Israeli government and bankrolled by U.S. Jewish foundations

There could be retaliation. In so many forms with even stranger websites.

Does anyone know if Betar is related to Canary Mission? Because they seem to be taking credit for ICE’s abduction if the Turkish student.

Zionism is an irrelevant red herring in the context of the discussion. It's merely a nationalist movement advocating for Jewish self-determination in their ancestral homeland. It has nothing to do with arresting people for jaywalking, or with immigration status in other countries.

Excellent article in Boston Globe identifying a number of groups—not just Canary Mission—providing foreign student names to ICE.

“The Department of Homeland Security denied collaborating with Betar or Canary Mission or receiving tips through the ICE tip line. But neither Homeland Security, nor the State Department would answer specific questions about whether they were working from the lists developed by the groups. Homeland Security also declined to answer questions about how the administration is prioritizing students for enforcement.”

Same story, different victims, different authoritarian government, but all in all the beginning is the same. I pray the ending is different, but people are remaining silent like they did in the 1930's.

Oh the irony of this. Back in the 1930s it was the Jews that were on those lists. Now they are the ones creating them.

It's a shame, their people were given a second chance. But rather than taking it, they are commiting the same injustices that were committed to them now to the Palestinians, an others.

Shut up with this already.

Canary Mission attacks Jews as well as others. It is not supported by the vast majority of American Jews, is not affiliated with any Jewish organization, and is not even supported by the majority of pro-Israel organizations. Its operators are completely unknown. It is, like all of the current extreme attempts to silence criticism of Israel, most of which by the way are MAGA and evangelical-associated, the worst possible thing for Jews.

There is apparently a "reverse canary mission" project.

I agree with you that evangelical and racist POS loon support for Israel are major parts of the problem … however:

The mere fact that Israel touts itself as “the Jewish state” and continues to engage with the rest of the world in utterly contemptible ways (relentless Hasbara campaigns, targeting groups and individuals critical of Israel’s policies and actions to deprive them of their rights and/or liberty, corrupting U.S. politicians, doxxing private citizens, false flag attacks, endless conflict with its neighbors if the U.S. isn’t paying those neighbors off, social media videos of IDF personnel mocking harm caused to innocents, price tag attacks on occupied land, Israeli citizens blocking and/or poisoning critical humanitarian aid, and on and on) … anyone who supports these kinds of maladaptive behaviors is rightfully considered contemptible.

So when Israel’s leaders refuse to acknowledge the gap between merely “being Jewish” and Israel, and when a Jewish American is anything less than pretty much full throated in their condemnation of everything listed above, it’s kinda weird for such people to try to distance themselves from the blowback.
