Thanks for sharing the racist a-hole interpretation of "BLM". You are probably anti"CRT" and anti"DEI" as well.

How about scam/grift interpretation of BLM? Organizations behind this movement syphoned tons of taxpayer dollars AND donations (through "guilt-driven" fundraisers at workplaces and education institutions). The owners got rich and bought millions of premium real estate, this part is widely publicized.

My company back then had put various organizations we should donate to into our faces, not only during our mandatory CRT classes (they overpaid to design for them) but through corporate emails and on Slack. We hired some academics to come up with CRT classes and struggle sessions for the employees. It was shoddily done and such a disaster that it caused a lot of discontent among workers and complaints to the HR from POC alone (who couldn't opt out of this circus either). And this is what was going on in a lot of private companies. I can only imagine the grift and money syphoned into all these programs in government related or contracting companies.

Both CRT and DEI are inherently racist.

Compelling retort. Would read again.

It's going to be called Liberty Plaza. A bit generic, but infinitely better than BLM Plaza.

Liberty Plaza is the proposed name in the stupid bill, but as far as I've seen Bowser has been silent on whether that is the intended replacement. I am hoping for some sort of online submission process, so that we can needle Trump and the Republicans with troll-y submissions. Biden Plaza. JD Vance's Sofa Plaza.

Please. Bowser is not going to fight the name choice for this. Who can legitimately object to Liberty Plaza?

Well anyone who actually walks around downtown DC knows that BLM plaza is pretty close to Freedom Plaza. The redundancy in that proximity is pretty silly. I’d much rather pick our own milquetoast name than defer to some moron from Georgia.

That's not at all what that means, but hey, you don't actually care.

The WaPo article today on this topic reports that BLM is actually watered-down from what the initiating activists actually wanted, which was to defund the police. That was a bridge too far politically even for D.C., so instead they settled on BLM, over activist objections. So yeah, "BLM" does = "no law enforcement directed at black criminals"].

What gets me about the whole BLM thing is they appear to care more about the black criminals than the mostly black victims.

They should name it "No Lives Matter" since DC is the murder capitol.

I mean, I am!! Anti all those things. We need to move past this divisive rhetoric and help unite people. So tired of it. You woke creeps brought us Trump 2.0!!!! This whole shtshow is your fault. If you had any common sense you could have foreseen this!!

Yes. Wanting racial justice definitely triggered the racists. That’s exactly why we have Trump again. Racist MFers voted for the orange turd.

And this is why Republican policies are resurgent.

Racists don’t like being called out.

Disgusting POSs.

But now they cry because they realize that dumpy mctraitor and jd gimp don’t care about them, either.

Poor MAGAs with their expensive eggs, no jobs, and no friends in DC and blue states. They can scurry back under the refrigerator now

It's fine. The rants here won't change the course correction away from racial signaling in public places.
Anonymous
I guess they should rename it "Slavery and Jim Crow Were Good and Haitians Eat Cats Plaza" to celebrate MAGA's deeply held race-blind, level-playing-field, equal-rights briefs.
Anonymous
Beliefs. I don't want to know about the their briefs.

If you're not sure why anyone would feel the need to remind society at large that Black lives also matter, try reading some news, history, or sociology.

However. It would have been insane to fight on this point and risk the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars of federal transportation funding. So I'm glad the District is backing down in advance from a confrontation that would have ended badly and not have been worth the battle.

Then add the word "also" and avoid the potential confusion.

Everyone who’s not willfully obtuse already knows this.
