College and University Discussion
Just to show how significant medical-related federal research is, the #2 ranked school in R&D expenditures after JHU is the University of California San Francisco, which is only health science and entirely post-graduate. It has research expenditures equal to UVA + VT + VCU + GMU. W&M doesn't have a medical school or an engineering school and isn't very big. It isn't easy to get to R1 from there even with the new standards. Wake Forest may be a similar school but has a medical school. $286M of its $309M R&D expenditures is in health sciences, so only $23M is outside of health sciences. W&M has $0 for health sciences, so all $82M is outside of health sciences. |
Agree who would confuse a quality educational institution with a couple of tax dodging (at least for now) hedge funds. |
Such bad educational institutions that they have better outcomes, orders of magnitudes more research opportunities and spending, better grad admissions rates, better reputations, better professors, more spending on instruction and innovative teaching grants, more spending on undergraduate opportunities, and-oh yeah- half the student:faculty ratio of W&M. |
| Why all the irrelevant trolling/back and forth here? |
I can only assume people are stressed about layoffs and taking their frustration out in unseemly and unnecessary ways here. |
+1 It’s really weird that they are taking out all their anger on W&M. |
This is every thread on W&M - always drags the unemployed haters out |
You are trolling with "unemployed haters" comment. |

How else would you describe someone who spends the middle of the work day ranting about a random college? |
