Is the "lottery" problem an issue there? |
|
do you not understand what is happening in the US
In a week there will be no college especially for girls |
What does that even mean? Another Bucknell? |
None. No restrictions on cs courses either. |
Rice is a small university that's strong in both CS and humanities. Plus, no Greek system. It has a residential college system that people tend to like. |
Union has pipeline to silicon valley |
Our son is a PhD student at Stanford (just under $60K) and fully supports himself on his stipend. He's quite happy and finds fulfillment in simple pleasures. It's been a good life from his perspective. |
The main challenge with Harvey Mudd is admissions. AFTER filtering down to "fully qualified" applicants, they still have something like 5-8x the number of applicants to openings. So it is a lottery just to get an admissions offer. |
How easy/difficult is to get CS in these? |
The only one that I have heard of that has a lottery on getting into the major is Pomona. You may not always get the exact class you want when you want it at the others but that’s true pretty much anywhere. |
Rice had an 8% acceptance rate last year. |
Getting admission into these colleges for sure is not easy. Look at their acceptance rates: Harvey Mudd - 13% Grinnell - 13% Pomona - 7% Davidson - 14% Carleton - 22% Middleburry - 10% |
| Hands down Mudd. It’s the lac leader, and few are at a comparable level |
You are becoming about as annoying as “Bucknell to the street” boy. Mudd is great but not greater than any other top LAC. |
I mostly agree. HMC is great, perhaps the best LAC for certain students or by certain measures, but it’s simply not the case that students at other top LACs won’t get a first rate CS education. If one goes to an Ivy instead of MIT they can still get a fantastic STEM education. Same thing here. |
