They both seem like good people and good parents. |
Me too - been pleasantly surprised |
| Classiest, most eloquent comments so far from someone who just lost their home…Coach Redick of the Lakers. There’s a reason why he’s in such a visible leadership position. Amazing class act. |
I imagine even if your home is left standing, it’s a disaster internally from smoke damage. Very sad all around. |
Yea, I read a Reddit post from someone who was the only house standing after a wildfire, and the experience sounded terrible. Still couldn’t move in for a while due to the smoke damage and no power/water, you basically live in what looks like a war zone, your whole community is gone, the air is toxic. Just plain awful. |
Wow, kindest reactions all from people who others tried to cancel |
Go Duke! |
Wow. That's quite a list. |
| Mandy Moore’s house didn’t burn down but two structures on the property did (a detached garage and studio space). Likely a lot of smoke damage but she didn’t lose her house or belongings. |
The last part of the list (#40 onward) didn’t lose their houses. They are celebs who lived in the area and posted about evacuating but their homes survived. I also saw that Eric Braeden (Victor from Y and R) lost the home he had lived in for 45 years. I do feel for celebs who had lived in a house for a long time and who don’t have multiple homes as they still will experience a great sense of loss even though they are in a better financial situation to rebuild. |

Some of these celebs need to quiet down. Why is People posting about Mandy Moore’s survivor guilt that her house didn’t burn. The fires are still raging. |
Agree re: feeling for those who are better off financially. Rebuilding in this situation may not happen for a very long time, if at all. Even for thise with money and/or insurance (if they still had it when the fires hit). Building supplies will be scarce and difficult to source; contractors will be swamped; the city and county might need extra time to mitigate toxins and remove hazardous debris especially from older houses, etc. And as you note, not all celebrities have second homes--that's kind of a stereotype. |
Do you expect People magazine to -- do what, exactly? Be out there firefighting? They're going to fill space however they can. Some days, that's going to include interviews with, gasp, celebrities whose homes did not burn down. If it bothers you, please feel free to scroll on past. If you think it's tone-deaf, well, that's a point, but criticizing People for doing its usual thing is kind of like criticizing the tide for coming in....You know it's going to happen and you can't control it. |
