Also the oceans are becoming more acidic primarily because they are absorbing increasing amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, which is primarily caused by human activities like burning fossil fuels. This means the base of the food chain will not be able to live because the increase acidification does not allow the formation of shells/etc.

Most species of large whales are pelagic plankton-feeders, and the warming oceans have actually helped whale populations recover faster from being hunted in the 18th-20th centuries because warmer ocean waters allow faster growth rates and higher populations of planktonic organisms.
