many EV charging stations are full too. the 3 nearest me had 3 available out of 46 total. but longest wait time was <20-min so not too crazy.

NP. We're flying back into town Sunday afternoon from our winter break trip to visit family. Aside from hoping that flights across the country aren't totally hosed ... I deliberately cleaned out the fridge before we left. I do have half a dozen eggs that should still be good, but totally out of milk, bread, yogurt, fresh vegetables, etc. My plan to was to hit the store when we get back - ha! Guess we'll be living on whatever canned soup is already in our cupboard for the next week or so.

Thanks OP for the maps- really interesting to see how it shapes up!

With the funeral downtown and the snow and DC not making any call on schools yet Monday is shaping up to be a cluster

Im convinced sometimes the government calls fake storms when Christmas sales weren’t good enough for the economy

The NWS warning mentions ice along the I66 corridor. I thought chances of ice were much further south.

...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet
accumulations between 5 and 9 inches, with amounts of 10 to 12
inches possible in isolated spots if heavy banding sets up in this
area. Ice accumulations of a trace possible near Interstate 66.

OP here. The snow isn't supposed to be heavy until the wee hours of Monday, so you can hit a store as soon as you land on Sunday, although there might not be much choice left. As for flights, this weather system is traveling from west to east, so depending where you're flying from, you could have weather disturbances on the way.

Sure, every single independent-minded scientist who has trained at a university for years and specialized in a meteorology degree BOWS TO THE GOVERNMENT.

Go ahead with your conspiracy theories. I suppose you also believe in Jewish space lasers, Jan 6-ers as victims and Covid=cold?

PP here, thanks! Our origin is south of the storm, so we should be good there. I'm willing to scrape the bottom of the grocery store shelves. Thankfully we already have shovels and hot cocoa mix at home . Cheers, and happy snow day to all!

This is hilarious. Someone that actually needs TP and eggs before snow! Ha ha. I thought people were just crazy panic.

Go to a gas station.
