| Can anyone find a 3 year BSc. Hons. degree? |
When did they apply and to what course? My kid just applied a week ago. He is not at an AP school, so no and never took the AP tests. But he scored 1460 on the SAT and has a 3.8 unweighed. It was the same with my other one that got into Bristol. No APs. But high GPA and 33 ACT. Bristol seems to be a little more lenient on APs if you go to a school without an AP program. One my kid’s best friend at Bristol didn’t even have SATs. Very high GPA, same school with no APs and no SAT and he got into Bristol 2 years ago. They really love Americans. Such a no brainer for the quality of the uni. |
Is this a Master’s degree program? Depends on the subject. Bristol is a world renowned university in several subjects. Which uni in London? |
I also have degrees from both, and found that the Europeans were generally much better prepared for grad school than the Americans. |

I believe University of York offers one. |
They applied in Sept. She to a medical / STEM course and he to a Humanities. Each had 4-5 AP's at 5 already in relevant subjects, so their offer was just to maintain a GPA of 3.6 (hers is currently 3.8) or 3.4 (his is currently 3.7). They are going elsewhere despite loving Bristol (visited last summer) just because of the different course options and Phd possibilities |
Where did they decide to go? |
That would be too outing for me to say, but I mentioned their acceptances earlier and they chose from those. |
DD wants to study a particular field and the best program is in Europe; Same DD wants out of US politics and policies. Cost, even with flying back and forth, is significantly less than 4 years at 90k plus |
| My son is at Exeter and absolutely loves it. He was admitted to Exeter, Bristol, Edinburgh and UCL for Management. UCL’s Int Mgmt program was at Canary Wharf and after touring he didnt want to have classes in a high rise….Exeter was the most American like campus. He is on the Surf team and has an internship lined up at UBS in Zurich between his 2nd and 3rd year. We are saving a ton of money vs the t25-t40 schools he go in the US. He will have a nice savings acct with that difference when he graduates… |

It looks like moderators deleted the previous Euro thread as I was about to respond to a PP….

| Can anybody share what happens after they graduate from overseas schools? Do they come back and find jobs in the States? Do US companies recruit from their campus? Do they feel missing the network if they decide to come back to work? |
So many “depends” in the answer.’ We are from Texas. I have two kids who graduated from UK schools. One graduated from Bristol and the other from Edinburgh. The Bristol kid studied Economics. After graduation he got a masters degree in Econ from UCL. He had ZERO trouble getting interviews back in the US. He now works for a TOP Tier consulting firm who typically hires at Ivy’s. The Edinburgh kid studied Business Management. Went to Imperial College for a masters in Finance. He wanted to work in IB and he had two offers from NYC IBs during his final semester at Imperial. He is now in NYC. The larger employers all know the story on UK schools. Had my Bristol kid staying in the US, his choices were t50-t60 schools. I think his probability of landing the Consulting gig he got coming from those schools would be low….the combo of Bristol and UCL was amazing and every single interview he had (he had 5) this was a big advantage….. For other subjects I have no idea…. |
| Outside of Oxbridge you have UCL, Imperial, Kings, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Bristol all with very large Alumni base in the US. The avg joe company have no idea the difference between Bristol and U of your Uncle Julio….so if that if you target, stay in the US. |
