Everyone views this differently — I see Vandy, Rice, Cornell and Dartmouth in one bucket, and Wash u, Emory and Tufts in another. Parchment cross admit data supports this distinction. |
Could be the case for you but not sure Parchment would help your whole case here. Parchment shows WashU over Vandy 62-38 and Rice 54-46. Loses 40 - 60 Dartmouth, 44 - 56 Cornell. |
Parchment is not reliable, at all. It is fabricated. It shows 62% Harvard to 38% NYU. 56% Harvard to 44% UCLA. Parchment is dog doodoo. |
Agreed, anyone forming opinions based on Parchment is just being intellectually lazy |
Who cares. Just wish the kids well, no matter what the outcome of Emory ED. Emory has its own unique niche as a midsize Southern school in a large metro area. It may not be what we choose for our 18-year-old selves or for our fragile middle aged parent egos but no need to put down Emory or any other school. |
There’s one mom here who swears by it…. lol |
Who is Emory mom? Either way, there's a Vandy grad in the thread lying about Emory's "40% acceptance rate" that's actually only 26%. Why even bring Vandy up in an Emory thread? |
Part of the confusion is Emory's for not reporting numbers consistently. 32% is Emory and Oxford combined. Then they separate the Ed2 numbers for each college. A less confusing way to report would look like... ED1 Emory-26% Oxford-unknown, but likely no less than 13.5% Emory+Oxford-32% ED2 Emory-12% Oxford-11% Emory+Oxford- 16% ED1+ED2 Emory-20% Oxford-unknown, but likely no less than 13% Emory+Oxford- 25% |
Emory has been caught cooking the books before. Remember it knowingly lied and inflated its SAT scores, GPA, etc. for 10 years. Given its sordid history and lack of candor it's reasonable to be suspicious of anything it reports. Liars don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Accepted Oxford. Rejected Main

Congrats on Emory-Oxford and ignore the Oxford bashers!! We know several people attending and some graduates. They loved the small classes and sense of community. And they had a smooth transition to the main campus after two years. |
This is an Emory mom, for whomever asked. And the Emory wheel itself said the ED1 rate was 32 percent last year . We don’t need t rehash. |
Oxford attendees actually have the exact same stats as those that start main campus. Congratulations! |
Are you local? |
That’s right, but for the record, Barnard’s acceptance rate was 7 percent, and even lower in recent years. It’s a wonderful school that doesn’t have to compare itself with Columbia. (And also is part of CU, get over it.) https://www.columbiaspectator.com/news/2024/03/27/barnard-acceptance-rate-rises-to-7-percent-for-class-of-2028/ |
