3.5 million high school graduates in 2024
80,000ish of them earned IB diplomas 35,000ish of them score 1500+ on the SAT The intersection of those with both a 1500+ AND an IB diploma is smaller still. I will guess maybe 15k? So if your kid get into one of those Ivies it is because they are one of these very rare kids. Top 99 percent in every way possible. Not because they have a Hispanic surname. |
DP: FYI— according to a Common App report, 75,000+ students applied to colleges with a score of 1500+ (don't forget superscores). |
We are not asking for your sympathy. We are demanding fairness. You are not giving us something out of generosity. This is ours, we're taking it back. Go throw someone else's kids under the bus to assuage your white guilt. |
Great. |
Say no to drugs. |
You sound like you think that's a lot. 9% of asians get over a 1500. It's reasonably common for asians to get a 1500 SAT score. That's like 20,000 asian kids with 1500+ SAT scores
I never said none. The studies by both harvard and SFFA shows that about 5%-7% of top schools would be black without affirmative action. That's not nothing but the numbers we were seeing was double that. If you have to mistate what I said to get mad, maybe you don't really have a reason to be mad. |
I am the immediately preceding poster at 21:47 I wish you luck. As long as the system is the way it is, I wouldn't fight it. I don't begrudge you the benefit the white people are giving you |
SFFA was the only the first case. Brown v board had to go to the supreme court 3 times over several decades before they finally saw justice. Hopefully we can get there faster. |
Most of the 20,000 asian kids are in California colleges. Congrats. 5% - 7% of black kids in the top colleges sound about right. Even with affirmative action, the averages were around those percentages. |
It was like 15% at Harvard, Yale, MIT, It was like 10% at Stanford and Princeton Most top schools tried to get close to or above 10% |
How do you figure. I mean the top schools are heavily skewed to the northeast. |
California has the most asian Americans in the country. That is how that person "figures." |
It is what it is - I don’t see his hooks as any different than points for legacy or athletes. His stats are competitive enough to give him options. But some of the other comments on this thread are disappointing especially for QB matches. |
Wow! And what is your source? This doesn’t match up with the QB stats or profiles of Ron Brown Scholars, Gates scholars, etc |
The majority of asians do not live in california. |
