“Mom/Dad says it’s too cold to play outside right now” .. what temperatures do you allow kids out to play?

I do not understand these posts. Op you really need to crowdsource this? Kids won't die going out to play in colder temperatures than this. My kids went outside all year long. Kids at school go outside all year long.

30s is fine. 20s only if there is snow that they need to play in and only for limited time. Not leaving them outside for 2 hours in the 20s snow or not.

My kids are old enough to play outside alone so it’s not an issue of playmates vanishing. I’m simply curious why people are weather averse so early in the season. Winter isn’t officially here. If you don’t go outside now, do you not go back out until Spring?

I think I anticipated neighborhoods with kids who have play outdoors to be year round. For the past nearly year, all the kids were outside sun up to sun down.

You are starting to catch on. And to the German PP, no we don’t want to wear all that stuff just to go outside. We have a lovely climate controlled home! If I want to go outside in winter I fly south.

Oh, my children just can't bear to get dressed on a weekend! But we'll spend hours to get to and from an airplane because we want to brag about how we're so rich that we too soft to outside our own home on a normal day!

Sounds like the kids don’t like the cold. That’s fine. One of my kids won’t play outside voluntarily in the winter, the other one will. It’s not a big thing.

For poor families, lack of winter clothes might be an issue. It ought not be for other folks.

Playing outside is great I don't care how cold it is give them hats,coats, gloves etc. However OP again why the hell is a 6 year old not supervised?

I have spent 20 minutes putting on coats, hats, mittens for them to go out for 20 minutes.

I am posting from Toronto. Not gonna lie, on very cold days it is us and Russian immigrants. It is a mindset thing for sure.
