People say dorms in the "GGV" (Green and Gold Village) complex aren't good but foster great community. People say the best friendships are made in the worst dorms at W&M but that the actual facilities are not optimal.

It’s still so strange to see those as dorms now (they were fraternities back in the day).

Which dorm was it? W&M is tearing down a lot of old dorms and building new ones. There have been substantial improvements in campus housing in recent years.

They're renovating or replacing 80% of housing, I believe.

They built new fraternity housing a few years ago.

I think I read that only. 10-15% of the WM budget comes from the state. Many of the new dorms are public/private partnerships. It's the cheapest VA school for Virginians who have need.

GGV will be demolished after this year. Half of the new dorms will be going to freshmen. There are some older complexes still but the dorms are fine. The worst two are being demolished. After the construction phases are completed, the average age of WM housing will be less than 10 years.
