Virginia tech also has tiered pricing for dorms. |
Stephen Trachtenberg, former president of GW effectively check-mated any shot for Georgetown when he bought mt Vernon property. G-town can now only go up, not out. |
| Boston University has some pretty horrible dorms. |
This even happens at private colleges as well, FA kids usually get the worst rooms. |
Thanks. I kind of meant rank the facilities of five schools my kids is applying to: WM VT jMU GMU VCU |
What do you mean a double? All rooms I knew at Yale were part of a suite, expect for a limited number in an annex. Which college is she in? What year is she? |
Yale's were all renovated since my time there, and they were quite nice even before then. Plus some are new - the two new residential colleges. |
My kid was in what's known as the worst freshman dorm at Georgetown. Honestly, it was fine. Yes it was a small room in an older building utterly devoid of any charm, and the furniture was dated. But it was very clean, and unlike a lot of reports at other places, there was no mold or any issues. Kid did say he heard a rumor that other kids saw a rat inside, but he never did. |
| William and Mary is opening several brand new dorms for next fall. Freshman will be occupying about half of them, and the two worst dorms are being demolished. There are still some older complexes that will be used for freshmen, but all are decent. |

How can a student function well when they have to share a small room (e.g. bunk beds or 2 small beds) with another kid?
How common is this or does this happen to only a small subset of students? |
This is what almost all college students do, and most of them survive unscathed. Wondering where you got the impression that college students generally have large solo dorm rooms with queen-size beds. |
| We found northeastern to be kinda cruddy when we visited. Not impressive at all |
THis is a thread about the T25. Maybe start a different thread? |
Not what the OP asked, though |
They are not children of heads of state! And over the age of 18 |
